Dave, I have neither heard or read any conservative bad mouth her. What is your definition of conservative? Just curious.

The GOP should have nominate someone who actually had a realistic chance to win.

And the time to do that was...

Seems like if the Republican leadership was SERIOUS about mounting a counter-candidate to KH, the time was a few months back. IF they had concentrated on only one candidate to support, and told the other two individuals to drop out then, they could have zeroed in.

But that didn't happen. Nobody was concerned enough about KH's "negatives" to enforce that much discipline. I am sure that the Republican leadership was not that favorably disposed to insuring Bill Nelson should be re-elected.

Now is the time to close up ranks, get behind our own Snow White, and retire Bill Nelson, who so richly deserves it.

You again ommitted any discussion of independents. You do know they can vote in the general election and if FL is like other states, they represent 30% of the electorate. The independents tend to be less overtly religious than Republicans although more so than Dems. Do you think Harris statements in favor of a Christian theocracy are going to appeal to Independents? I dont. Harris will continue to be turned into a cartoon character because she feeds the media more and more material.

Yes, like Lincoln Chafee. [sarcasm}

I'm so impressed with their decision making.

IIRC it was done by using an absentee ballot in one state and voting in person in the second. The ones caught in the last election were from NY and NJ and voting in FL. You can guess the party! (A few had been successful for several voting cycles.)

She'll get grassroots monetary support from all over the country, from people who remember her strength during the 2000 election fiasco. Whether she can parlay that into defeating Nelson doesn't seem like an overwhelming task from this non-resident familiar with Florida and its politics.

All she needs is serious support from the RNC Senatorial Campaign head and everything else should fall into place. I'll keep watching with interest, and will open or close my wallet based on what happens next.

But you forget, these are conservatives who are bad mouthing her.

There are a couple of obsessives out there who keep banging the drum. I don't think the election will turn on them. Thats just my prediction.

So you have to be a Jesus Freak to be a real conservative these days. Guess Barry GOldwater would never have been accepted by today's real conservatives.

I think y'all Floridians got a prayer answered. Its almost FR credo, Jim Robinson's said, even. Vote for the most conservative candidate in the primary and the republican in the general. Y'all have done it and gotten the conservative there. There is no excuse for anyone on this forum to take a position against the most conservative who made it to the general election. Get in the face of anyone who does! They're probably one of the DUmmies intent upon disruption and division.

Well done, Florida!

Ohhhhh. I get it. We're supposed to nominate Republicans that appeal to "independents". The unappeasable crowd on FreeRepublic is really kind of amusing. On one side you've got the "true conservatives" who insist the Republican Party should only elect candidates to the far right of Attila the Hun, and on the other side you've got the people like you who think the Republican Party should nominate candidates that appeal to people who are too wishy washy to declare themselves anything other than "independent".

Oh yeah, we ought to waste our money and energy on another Alan Keyes type candidate when other Republicans in other states can actually win.

No you are supposed to nominate candidates that can actually win. If you think a candidate that could barely get 50% of her own parties votes is going to sweep to victory, you have been smoking something illegal.
