During Ronald Reagan's second term none other than William F Buckley dismissed him (Reagan) as nothing more than an "SPEECH READER IN CHIEF" . . . According to Buckley, Reagan (the actor) had the FORM but lacked the SUBSTANCE. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Don't forget that it's those same 'ubercons' who now remember Reagan with rose colored glasses as a god, while they bash a man who is in many ways the same and every bit the conservative, though in different areas.

Never thought much of Buckley. Lots of words, big vocabulary, liked to go sailing, early conservative magazine. Maybe it was the air of aristocracy.
