Lately, I'm finding the desperation to grow the global warming industry hysterically funny. Overblown articles like this are classic examples of "climate change" hype.

Scientists aren't quite sure whether methane or carbon dioxide is worse.

Methane from the premafrost melt, methane from the ocean bottoms thawing, methane from the zillions of ruminant animals, methane from oil wells, methane from volcanoes........Obviously, it's ALL Bush's fault............

So planet earth is permanently incapable of recovering from a 1° increase in average temperatures? It's a wonder we made it this far, dontcha think?

Don't I remember Ronald Reagan being severely criticized for stating the methane was the culprit?

It's OK, one of the lead pics at Yahoo re: Global warming and an alternative fuel source, that discounts the recent report of more oil reserves found in the Gulf of Mexico.. the caption speaks for itself.

We are witnessing nothing more than a movement attempting to transfer wealth from one group of folks to another, imo.

An attendee inspects a fuel cell hybrid Audi at the National Hydrogen Association's (NHA) annual convention in Long Beach, California, March 13, 2006. Enzymes rather than scarce and expensive platinum may hold the answer to the hydrogen fuel cells of the future to halt global warming and as the oil runs out, a scientist said on Wednesday. AB 32 awaits the Gubby's signature.

Gotta do our part to fight Global Warming , yaknow... no matter how much of our economy it destroys.

Thanks, Gub!

"The higher the temperature gets, the more permafrost we melt, the more tendency it is to become a more vicious cycle,"

This is why, every 100,000 years or so, the earth becomes a blazing fireball zooming through space until all combustible fuel is consumed....

It is only September 6 and the polar sea ice has already returned to Barrow Alaska.

Yes that's true, the polar bears are not going to be starving and drowning this year.

One thing this piece fails to mention is that not only does methane break down in 10 years but that time is decreasing. Global warming scientists, as usual, blame man. Their theory is that by chopping up the ozone layer we let more UV through which turns H2O gas into OH and the OH combines reacts with methane.

Using special underwater bubble traps, Walter and her colleagues found giant hot spots of bubbling methane that were never measured before because they were hard to reach.

Ah, so since they were never measured before, they know how much methane they release regularly exactly how again?

It's just part of the cycle that drives ice-ages: the permafrost thaws, releasing methane, increasing warming, until the melting ice desalinates the North Atlantic shutting down heat-transport from the tropics (already starting), at which time the northern hemisphere cools, and the permafrost and glaciers return.

Some say the world will end in fire, some say in ice. . .
