What really iced the whole 9/11 cake for me is that I know a guy who was in the second building to get hit. He was ten years younger than I and was a friend of my little brother. On time I baby-sat for my brother, this guy and another kid when they wanted to camp out on the beach. they -- gasp! -- smoked CIGARETTES! But I'd known him since he was like 5 or 6.

And his wife was pregnant on 9/11.

NOT a good thing. Anyway, that's how I got into the reserves in my sheriff's office, then into search and rescue, and disaster preparedness, and why I'm taking EMT classes. I want to be there if it happens again, I want to be ready to help, and I want to get me a terrorist or two, if I can.
