Dogfight sequence here. This scene seems to take CGI to the next level. Very impressive. Have not seen movie and have no connection to it.

The action is very tame compared to a real dogfight. Looks like some good drama involved, though.

I saw a trailer on TV. I thought I was seeing things. I thought I saw a scene where there were about a dozen German Tri planes zipping around....ummmmm....all painted Red. I thought only Baron von whats-his-name had a red Tri plane, hence the name "Red baron". I hope Hollyweird didn't over do it (one more time) and sauce things up so much as to be totally unbelievable.
Anyway, I'm going here....
http://www.oldrhinebeck.org/ in two weeks, I have not been there in almost 30 years. I can't wait to see the show one more time.

Is that a movie or a demo for Microsoft Flight?

Pretty good. I wouldn't call it "next level", though. The CGI was still pretty obvious. The physics engine was a little weak. That's usually the tell in high motion CGI.
The film itself didn't seem to be very serious.

The trailers looked a little ridiculous, but they proudly proclaim "From the Director of "Independence Day"", so that's to be expected. Looked like two dozen aircaft boxed in a 200' cube.
I prefer "The Blue Max" recollections.

Waldo Pepper was a pretty good flick too. I think they used a few Cole Palen planes in there.....

From the commercials it looked like the biplanes must have been carrying thousands of gallons of fuel because no matter where a plane was hit it immediately burst into flames. Most of the time killing shots on the plane would have just torn up the wings so it didn't have enough lift, broken some wing supports or snapped control cables. But firey explosions are more interesting so that's what will be in the movie.

The old classic
Wings has some great vintage aerial footage. Plus, a young Gary Cooper makes an appearance as well.

I didn't know about Old Rhinebeck. Many years ago my Dad treated me to a biplane ride at the Henley Aerodrome in Athol, Idaho near Couer d'Alene (you gotta love a town named "Athol"). It was incredible. Unfortunately, the Aerodrome shut down in the mid 80s and was turned into a large regional amusement park. What a shame.

Don't forget "Von Richtofen and Brown". Another oldie but goodie.
