While I DON'T support the "historization of fictionalization" (I just invented that), this move by the Democrats, frankly, has stunned me. And I say that as a former Democrat myself. I cannot BELIEVE that my former party would stoop to that level.

I can imagine the outcry by conservatives if something like this were done to a Republican President (so many examples to choose from here...), but I never would expect the Republicans in Congress to unleash such a threat. They never did, as far as I can remember, over many such falacious TV shows and movies.

All I can say is that, though I still believe ALL politics to be a dirty game between two teams of whores, there is CLEARLY one that is worse than the other. CLEARLY. I don't know about you all, but the "broken glass Republican" in me has risen again!

"I cannot BELIEVE that my former party would stoop to that level."

I didn't used to believe it either. Then I lived through 1997 and 1998, when members of Clinton's administration PUBLICLY said things like, "It's no big deal to lie under oath as long as it's about sex." What about Hillary responding to the scandal by saying, "Ms. Lewinsky was just one of the many young people my husband ministers to."

The hopes of dems seem to revolve around the assumption that the general populace, and certainly voters, are stupid, shallow, lazy, unprincipled, uninformed, entertainment-crazed dolts who take the most cherished tenets of the American experience (freedom, religion and family) lightly, if at all. Who needs 'em?
