On Friday evening, Bill Clinton's lawyers sent a new letter to ABC chief Bob Iger demanding that ABC yank "The Path to 9/11." We've obtained a copy of the letter, and it reads in part: "As a nation, we need to be focused on preventing another attack, not fictionalizing the last one for television ratings. `The Path to 9/11' not only tarnishes the work of the 9/11 Commission, but also cheapens the fith anniversary of what was a very painful moment in history for all Americans. We expect that you will make the responsible decision to not air this film." Full text of the letter after the jump.
Dear Bob,
Despite press reports that ABC/Disney has made changes in the content and marketing of "The Path to 9/11," we remailn concerned about the false impression that airing the show will leave on the public. Labelng the show as "fiction" does not meet your responsibility to the victims of the September 11th attacks, their families, the hard work of the 9/11 Commission, or to the American people as a whole.
At a moment when we should be debating how to make the nation safer by implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, "The Path to 9/11" calls into question the accuracy of the Commission's report and whether fabricated scenes are, in fact, an accurate portrayal of history. Indeed, the millions spent on the production of this fictional drama would have been better spent informing the public about the Commission's actual findings and the many recommendations that have yet to be acted upon. Unlike this film, that would have been a tremendous service to the public.
Although our request for an advance copy of the film has been repeatedly denied, it is all too clear that our objections to "The Path to 9/11" are valid and corroborated by those familiar with the film and intimately involved in its production.
-- Your corporate partner, Scholastic, has disassociated itself from this proect.
-- 9/11 Commission Chairman Thomas Kean, who served as co-executive producer on "The Path to 9/11," has stated that he raised concerns about the accuracy of several scenes in the film and that his concerns were not addressed during production.
-- Harvey Keitel, who plays the star role of FBI agent John O'Neill, told reporters yesterday that while the screenplay was presented to him as a fair treatment of historical events, he is upset that several scenes were simply invented for dramatic purposes.
-- Numerous Members of Congress, several 9/11 Commissioners and prominent historians have spoken out against this movie.
-- Indeed, according to press reports, the fact that you are still editing the film two days before it is scheduled to air is an admission that it is irreparably flawed.
As a nation, we need to be focused on preventing another attack, not fictionalizing the last one for television ratings. I'm just wondering if there might be some kind of plug in this flick for the beast. First the roaches all come out when the light gets turned on, screaming and yelling. And uncoordinated to boot. And then the beast is seen in the flick making bold but ficticious suggestions on how to handle this but of course she only 1st lady so she is ignored. But the viewers will remember.
As I have previously posted, I believe this could not only be bad for the Clinton Administration members, but also the 9/11 Commission and its report as well as Congressional Intel committees. Uncoordinated response because all are defending a different part of the political playing field.
You could be spot on. The theory was that the 'event' took place in Florida, and supposedly Virginia was in Fla. in Jan. 1946 but where was JFK?

First, the Bully CLINTONS use the media to force ABC/Disney to make some cuts to 'Path to 9/11' ..then blast them for doing so, pressuring them to cancel its airing altogether.
The Bully CLINTONS, during the Vietnam War, supported a Communist Terrorist Regime Hanoi's constantly telling the world that "There wasn't -1- of its Soldiers fighting inside South Vietnam"..!!!
See last picture linked below that I personally took of -2- such Soldiers just captured INSIDE South Vietnam on November 14, 1965, 10 years before the Fall of Saigon to Communism. A Fall that came because of Media manipulation, like the very kind we are seeing again from the CLINTONS.

I DO believe that the timing of this movie release upsets their November election strategy. They had planned to attack Bush on Iraq on the 9-11 anniversary, to keep the publics attention on Iraq instead of 9-11 and the WOT. All of the publicity surrounding the movie release has practically thwarted that plan right out of the gate. If anything, by launching such a loud protest, they may have done themselves harm, as people's natural curiosity has become piqued.
The Democrats now control what we are allowed to learn in the press, what our children are allowed to learn in the public schools, and what we are all allowed to say. Consider the tyranny we would live under if they were allowed to be in the majority in Congress.
Well, the big goof obviously had an 'angel'; otherwise we never would have heard of him (or, had to suffer him). And, I think we can guess the likely reason why.

Yup. It's hard not to be cynical if they drew their material from the Commission Report, which hid Gorelick's creation of "the Wall" while she was Clinton's Deputy Attorney General.
Despite her ridiculous claim that the "Wall" was set up to protect the civil rights of terrorist suspects, everybody knows it was to protect Bill's illegal activities from coming to light.

Lindsey and Band objected to advertisements for the miniseries, which they said suggested that Clinton wasn't paying enough attention to the threat of terrorism.
"While ABC is promoting 'The Path to 9/11' as a dramatization of historical fact, in truth it is a fictitious rewriting of history that will be misinterpreted by millions of Americans," they said. "Given your stated obligation to 'get it right,' we urge you to do so by not airing this drama until the egregious factual errors are corrected, an endeavor we could easily assist you with given the opportunity to view the film."
Democratic Sens. Charles Schumer of New York and Harry Reid of Nevada commented on the controversy at a morning news conference.
"I haven't seen it, but from everything I've heard it's not down the middle. It's not fair at all. And to have a film that seems to be biased and take one side put on by a network seems to be the wrong thing to do," said Schumer. "You can't take a film that's supposed to report on something that's so real and so close and make it into fiction. That's beneath ABC's dignity."
"They started off this as being a documentary," added Reid. "They changed it to a docudrama and now it's a work of fiction and that's what it is. And, yes, they should pull it."

By all accounts, A The Path to 9/11; is riddled with inaccuracies and contains material that directly contradicts the factual findings of the 9/11 Commission. I am deeply concerned that ABC is considering going forward with their plans to broadcast this so-called docudrama. The lessons from the events leading up to that tragedy are too important to trivialize, and it would be fundamentally irresponsible to air such distortions.
