Probably more than a small fraction. Work ought to be done on assimilation fast.

They don't go out and kill or threaten people. Nor do they consider themselves a master race. Plus, they are more cultural rather than racist.

It comes from a large news network?

And your point is? Do we believe everything we hear on the MSM? You know, like the Million Man March that was actually thousands short of the million men.
To: originalbuckeye
Although what the msm shows is usually one-sided, it is largely accurate. Yes, they've made big errors, CBS especially, but this report fits snugly into what has been seen recently with Mexican immigrants--and, in some cases, Americans of Mexican descent (who could be more properly labeled Mexican-Americans).

For clarification, by one-sided: the media tends to be biased by witholding information or overemphasizing it, not often (though it does happen) by making it up.

I just watched coverage of this event on the ABC-7 news. It is a parade celebrating ethnic heritage, not unlike a St. Patrick's Day parade or a Columbus Day parade. There were politicians, TV and radio personalities, musical and dancing groups, and so on.
The video tape showed people lined up on either side of the street watching and they seemed to average two to three deep on the sidewalks. Kids sitting on the curbs, adults behind them, and in places, some standing behind others looking between and over the shoulder of those in front of them.
The parade route was two miles long through East L.A. If that is about twenty blocks then the 250,000 figure seems exaggerated. That would be 6,000 people along one side of the street for each city block. That would be an impenetrable mass of bodies and in every scene shown on television there was ample space for families to pass on the sidewalk behind those who were watching.
It was a family event, the people shown were having innocent fun. There was no mention of La Raza or Reconquista although that element may have been present but unreported in this newscast. The gangsters must have taken a day off as there were no reports of drive by shootings, but then the streets were blocked for the parade.
Don't forget that September 15th is VM Day, Victory over Mexico, when the Stars and Stripes replaced the Mexican flag over the Presidential Palace in Mexico City in 1847. Of course we didn't stay and we paid a handsome price for barely inhabited land that, with the exception of Texas, the Mexican government had shown little interest in.
Finally, please note that Cuervo is one of the worst tasting Tequilas produced in Jalisco. I urge all celebrants of Mexican heritage to expand your horizons and try other Tequilas in the name of refined culture and good taste.

How soon before it's an American national holiday? I think today was the first one. LOL!
250,000? Decent-sized turnout. Wonder what (small) fraction are U.S. citizens?
One. The mayor. ;o)

Your description has much more credibility. Maybe 12,000. The rallies that were supposed to happen over the Labor Day holiday had very low turnouts. The mayor's presence probably brought out more people but not anything close to 250,000.

I think you don't know what you're talking about. Here is what they say:
"For La Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada" ... "For the race, everything. For those outside the race, nothing."
If that's not considering yourself a master race, I don't know what is....

It was covered on the local ABC affiliate this afternoon.
The Mayor AND Phil Angelides both rode in the parade.

Americans of Mexican descent should be properly labled...Americans.

the 250,000 figure seems exaggerated Agreed. I saw that same report.
I don't drink tequila but I have heard of a brand called "Don Julio Blanco" or something like that -- it is supposed to be good.
As for cultural ala St. Patrick's Day . . . everyone needs to remember that the Irish came here to become Americans.
The Mexicans just want to be Mexicans.

They should really bring in "La Migra" when these events occur.

I actually like that movie -- despite it's strong Anti-American message.

"Mexican Independence Day is September 16."First thing I noticed (& I live in L.A.)...for the present.
Why pick the day before the 9/11 anniversary to pimp illegal immigration?
(Villagarosa was there - can only mean 'pimp illegal immigration').
The least these cretins could do would be to recognize that Americans - as opposed to mexican (not really) Americans - should be remembering 9/11 and not someone else's independance day (handed to them by an inept and sickly imperial wraith).
Do we have to do this again next week end??
