Curious as to why someone would set that particular song (which is a favorite of mine) to those horrific scenes - it was almost obscene imo.

I had a similar reaction to yours when I first saw that video. Then it occurred to me that the person who put it together wanted to make a heavily ironic statement. The song is used to say it really isn't such a wonderful world.

A lot of the videos put together by folks wanting to do their own memorials use sappy music. I guess the person who did this one wanted to go against that grain.

President Bush has faced more challenges than any other president in American History. I think it is critical that we get out the vote in November to give him the legislative support he deserves and needs for the next two years.

I couldn't agree with you more, Julie. The very idea that the cretins in the Democrat Party want to take over the House so they can impeach this great man turns my stomach. They only want to do it out of spite for what happened to Clinton, and the welfare of the nation be hanged as far as they're concerned.

The modern Democrat Party is filled with petty, spiteful, mean, empty vessels.

Hi ya snugs,

I was going to select one of the pics from yesterday, but I've decided on the pic wherein he is first notified by Andy Card that a second plane had hit the second tower.

Rush said today.....

Clinton wanted to protect himself.
Bush has always tried to protect Americans.

Ir was bittersweet to see him comforting those families in Shanksville and at the Pentagon today. He has a tender heart and seemed to me to be very emotional at times....and then someone would say something that would lighten his spirit. The time he took to hug, sign papers & pose for pics showed how much he cared.

I also noted that CNN did not show that coverage very much but FNC & C-SPAN did give it the time it deserved.

Hi, Wolfstar :)

I was struck by what a truly remarkable man GWB is.

The same thought occurred to me a little while ago when I was watching the President at the Pentagon. He was talking to--and often hugging--the survivors and family members of those that were killed there.

At one point, W came to a lady and talked to her for a moment. The lady put her hand to her mouth to stifle a sob. W leaned in and touched his forehead to hers ... It was such a natural and tender gesture, something that can't be planned or rehearsed. Like you said, completely genuine.

God bless him. I don't know if we'll have another leader quite like George W. Bush.

God bless him, indeed, Jonny. I don't expect to see another like him in my lifetime.

Wolfstar, thank you for this wonderful remembrance thread. I looked at it when I returned home from the Freedom Walk last night and continued to come back to it today. What a wonderful job in compiling the links and photos of that historical day.

I love any father-son photo of President Bush and his dad, but this one is special. You can really see the depth of the bond between them as his father reaches out his hand. You can tell Dubya is holding on tight.

When I first saw that picture five years ago, it registered a very brief moment of pity on my part for Bubba, sitting a couple of seats over. Bubba never knew nor experienced the depth of love and admiration, the bond that is possible between Father and Son-between family, like it is with the Bush family. Looking at Bubba, Hillary and Chelsea...one can't help but feel pity for the type of "family" they are...but alas, my moment of pity has passed.
