Amazing photos of the President and First Lady at ground zero today.
I live about 20 miles away from there, in NJ. When I worked in Manhattan I came through the WTC every day. I still can't bring myself to visit the site. It's completely selfish of me but I just don't want to lose it and I know I can't take it.
Not selfish of you at all. I know exactly how you feel. I was born in NJ, raised in Jersey City and Union City before moving to Queens for a few years before moving to L.A. 30 years ago. I remember seeing the twin towers rise as they were being built, and my dad and I frequently took the PATH trains into the station under the WTC.
Even though I moved away so long ago, I still feel the ties to NYC and especially the WTC site. I love old St. Paul's Chapel and the complete serenity one feels inside it. Sigh.
