BILL'S NEW AND IMPROVED 9/11 [What Scenes Were Dropped...Read On FReepers!]

Well, ABC (and its parent company Disney) just couldn't do it. The pressure was too great. They couldn't stand up to former president Bill Clinton and his administration cronies. After they whined and made threats and got members of the Senate to write a threatening letter, ABC finally did what they wanted.

No...ABC didn't pull the drama 'The Path To 9/11,' as Bill Clinton had suggested. But what they did was almost worse...they censored it. The network edited out parts of the movie that were critical of the Clinton Administration's actions when it came to terrorism and Osama Bin Laden. That's really a shame. Oh well, perhaps we have to wait for the DVD version to see the show the way it was originally intended.

So what was edited out? Well, here are just a few examples:

--In the first cut of the movie, Richard Clarke tells an FBI agent that because of the pending impeachment, he doesn't see Bill Clinton taking any chances with killing Bin Laden. That sure doesn't make Bill Clinton look very good...but no problem! Presto...after editing, the same scene shows Richard Clarke saying of the impeachment that the president had assured him it wouldn't affect his decision making. There you go...that's better for Bill.

--The first version showed Sandy 'Pants' Berger hanging up on George Tenet, who had requested permission from the Clinton Administration to attack Osama Bin Laden. The new version last night did not include the hang-up scene. The DNC can't buy this kind of censorship.

So there you have it. To some extent, great or mild (your choice) Bill Clinton got his way. ABC wound up cutting several minutes from the film and one can presume the next installment tonight will be the same. Once again the propaganda that the Clinton Administration had nothing to do with 9/11 is further advanced. By the way, if the movie was critical of a Republican administration do you suppose similar cuts would have been made? Hardly.

Oh, and the media is portraying ABC as courageous for still airing the movie....even though they sure did move to soften the blow to Clinton's image. Well .. after all. The Democrats may be in power in a few years, and you have to be careful about who you chose to infuriate.

The Dems did threaten to pull their broadcast license, so I guess they had to do something.

ABC: We can show it overseas uncut, but Americans can't handle the truth.

Clinton and his administration still came out looking like the disengaged fools they were.

"Are there any men left in Washington....or just cowards?"

I hope and pray for the day that the media is no longer willing to re-write history, LIE, and distort the truth for political gamesmanship in their blatant support of big government liberals and their hatred of conservatives.

Also, the writer, Cyrus (whatever) said Fri. that he would make an appearance in Hannity's show this afternoon.

Not much to get worked up about if you ask me -- the most shocking part of the whole first episode to me was how it made it appear that anti-Americanism existed in the world prior to the George W. Bush presidency. And here I was thinking that Bush administration policies made Islamists hate us. Maybe this is the "fictionalized" part of the series that the DNC warned us about.

I watched it and even if there were edits it still made the Clinton crowd look awful. They left in the scene where the late leader of the Northern Alliance askes the CIA guy if there are anything but cowards left in Washington when they fail to take out UBL.

I am curious to see how they'll ALSO cut out the parts that make the Bush administration look bad tonight.

(yea, right)

I heard ED whining on F&F this morning about how they "ficionalized it" and I did not find that to be the case since they cut it up. clinton(gag) and the lewinsky thing was only mentioned in passing by a reporter but did not "dwell" on it as I've been hearing.
What liars!!

I hate liberals.

Sandy slamming down the phone. It would have been powerful, but I'm willing to live without it.

Clinton zipping up his pants. THAT'S what should have been shown. Actually just the sound effect would have been enough. All the clinton years could have been compressed into that one 2 second sound.

From what I've been reading on DU, the edits aren't enough for them. They are trying to get people to boycott Disney because they dared to run the movie-despite "all their efforts". And ironically, in one thread I saw, they were promoting Disney's Gay Day.

Either you are for it or against it. This is why boycotts tend to fail.

Is it just me or doesn't it actually hurt the Democrats more now? The average joe just knows that the Clinton's were furious and wanted it edited / pulled and that ABC caved. Tuning in to it, they're going to think "Holy crap! This is the watered down version???"

Yes... yes they did. It also gave a good idea of how worthless a court-of-law approach to Islamo-Fascism is.

I am surprised the left is not saying that if we just let Monica service Bill in peace, he would have been able to then move on to killing bin ladden.

I think the Clinton administration came off pretty badly anyway.

I don't remember seeing or hearing anything from Bill Clinton through the whole first part of the first night until they showed him wagging his finger saying "I did not have sex with that woman...Miss Lewinsky..."
