The media and the people of West Virgina need to ask the question, just what activities the KKK and Robert Byrd were involved with ? It wasn't just a social club!..........their principal activities included Lynchings and killing of people. Why has no one ever bothered to ask Mr. Byrd If he ever participated in such events.....or maybe conspired to do so or if he knew people that did? And by the way, does anyone know what the statute of limitations would be on such crimes in West Virgina.......I think this is a question that should be aired and debated by the candidates.Maybe the media can also research exactly how many lynchings or acts of violence occured in the state of West Virgina during the reign of thier great Senator in the KKK.

Ah, we call it Byrdseed. I think he got 89% of the vote last election so this is progress. I don't get it at all and thankfully we have well and not city water. Maybe they put something in it?

His late wife Emma has at least one building named after her as well. If you can stomach it, look it up.

Too bad someone can't follow Sheets Byrd around for a day and videotape this feeble one. I heard he can't walk by himself. Can someone living or working in DC do this?

Do they put him on those baby changing tables when they change his Depends?

Kristinn, can you help us out and get this guy on tape?....so the people of this state can see what they continue to put in office.

"Byrd, the longest-serving member of the U.S. Senate, is known for his oratory, unabashed vigor in bringing pork projects to his state, and opposition to the war in Iraq."

Thanks, in large part, to the significant number of Robert C. Byrd Moonshine Stills that is keeing his constitutents too pickled to think intelligently....

I think Byrd looks feeble in his commercials. I believe he is using walking aids in one. I am always amazed at how many Byrd bumper stickers I see around.

Who is governor of WV? Would they keep a democrat seat when Byrd dies in office?

Another popular Democrat in the state is Governor Joe Manchin; his job performance wins 79% overall approval,

OK.

What else can you expect from people who wouldn't sodomize a goat unless it was a near relation?

Nice, I'm assuming your comment means you won't come here. Good.

yes but term limits would fix the seniority system problem immediately ! Its hard to claim seniority when you only have two terms to deal with.

Another way of fixing the problem is to go back to the system that the Founding Fathers intended, one of the state legislatures electing the senators. I guarantee there are plenty of egomaniacs in state legislatures that would like the tile US Senator. That would increase competition & make the Senators more beholden to their respective states!

Byrd is very clever. His voters are the ones so invested in payoffs that they care nothing for congressional integrity.

Come on, now, I was only joking. I assumed everyone knew that no self-respecting West Virginian would have sex with a goat.

Your profile says that you try to understand antisocial behavior, you apparently are a little slow on the uptake. People in our state vote for democrat idiots, I guess we are just so far behind the enlightened folks in Massachusetts, New York, California, etc. Those city folks sure are smart...
