AUSTIN Two polls released Monday found Gov. Rick Perry is vulnerable to defeat, but his campaign is questioning the surveys' accuracy.
Conventional wisdom in the governor's race has been that none of the governor's four opponents would have a chance to beat him if he gets more than 35 percent of the vote on Nov. 7. There is no runoff in the general election, so the top vote-getter wins.
Perry has hovered between 35 percent and 41 percent in public polls for months. But he has fallen into the defeatable zone in polls done by Rasmussen Reports and the Wall Street Journal/Zogby Online.
The Rasmussen poll put Perry's re-election support at 33 percent, and the Zogby poll had his support at 31 percent.
"It's hard to see him losing above 37 percent, but below 35 percent, somebody might get that much out of the remaining 65 percent of the vote," said University of Houston pollster Richard Murray, a Democrat.
But Perry spokesman Robert Black said the polls paid for by news media companies should not be trusted because their methodology is not sound political science.

Hear, Hear!!!!!
Endurance has gotten this state thru many storms...this is just another storm. Do you have the endurance to stay the course and keep our great state Republican, or will you cut and run? It is all up to the individual voter. As for me and my house, we remain Republican. I am taking no chances on a nut case like Kinky.
2 of many reasons I will be voting against him.
How many false promises does it take. Perry is no true conservative.
Okay, Zogby has lost all credibility in recent elections.
But questioning Rasmussen? You have got to be kidding me.
I am a Perry supporter and I am sure he has a team of complete idiots working for him. I have always thought it every since trying to work with them as a GOP county chair but now I know.
yeesh
Kinky is no conservative either, so what's the point...he is as Dem as one can get.
Perry is a $5 brain mounted on a $50 haircut rat with a R by his name.
As are most politicians.....Kinky is a nut case with ultra liberal friends waiting for an appointment to office. (i.e., Willie Nelson) But if that is what you want, then go for it..As a Texan who wants this state to stay Republican, I will continue the course.
Give me a "real" conservative and I will give him/her the vote. Perry is going to lose because the mislead the people of Texas.
I would not bet on that if I were you.....but if he does, it will be because of people like you who cannot stand the storms of political life....and will hand our state over to ultra liberals...then you can live with that.
Your distaste should be directed to the GOP for not giving us a candidate worthy of Texas.
I refuse to stay the course if it is off a cliff with Gov Goodhair.
Higher taxes
No real support on appraisal caps
Nafta road land grab
Obviously lying about tax saving
Just some of the reasons I will not vote for this rino again.
Let's hope the rest of the country is smart enough to refrain from voting for a nut to "send the GOP a message".
_____________
Tex
I will repeat, vote your conscience....but be prepared to live with a Dem governor.....with all that goes with it...Hillary would love you.
Amen to that.
Those polls are being done by Bell & Strayhorn. I heard in on radio this morning.
In this election there are so many of us we will decide it. Pery is in the low to mid 30's in the polls. Besides voting for who one thinks is the best candidate is never a waste.
