Polls find Perry loss isn't out of the question

AUSTIN — Two polls released Monday found Gov. Rick Perry is vulnerable to defeat, but his campaign is questioning the surveys' accuracy.

Conventional wisdom in the governor's race has been that none of the governor's four opponents would have a chance to beat him if he gets more than 35 percent of the vote on Nov. 7. There is no runoff in the general election, so the top vote-getter wins.

Perry has hovered between 35 percent and 41 percent in public polls for months. But he has fallen into the defeatable zone in polls done by Rasmussen Reports and the Wall Street Journal/Zogby Online.

The Rasmussen poll put Perry's re-election support at 33 percent, and the Zogby poll had his support at 31 percent.

"It's hard to see him losing above 37 percent, but below 35 percent, somebody might get that much out of the remaining 65 percent of the vote," said University of Houston pollster Richard Murray, a Democrat.

But Perry spokesman Robert Black said the polls paid for by news media companies should not be trusted because their methodology is not sound political science.

Franky IMO Perry (as a former "dem") is far, far away from being a "conservative"....likewise his belated token efforts on sealing the border, failure to weed out illegals, tokenism on property tax relief, and the big Texas land grab in the name of toll roads makes him far more of a liberal than a conservative

Kinky is a joke, but I have seen plenty of Kinky bumper stickers here in conservative West Texas.

I hope the real voters come out AGAINST Kinky. I don't like Perry but he is the best of the ones running.

We are living with a dem governor as far as I am concerned now. He just has an R by his name. That is one of the many reasons I will not vote for him.

I'm with you maeng.

But... I am really feeling the sway for Kinky. He is answering 90% of the questions just right. Which puts him abou 20% ahead of Perry.

Assume they are both sincere or that they are both sincere and it's hard NOT to start leaning in Kinky's direction.

Kinky's weakness on prolife (don't no one start cause it's the one issue he has played both sides of) and gay marriage are about the most serious issue/policy problems that I am seeing.

I'm sticking with Perry for now but...

But I am prayerful that most Texans have enough sense to not jump in the fire with a nut case like Kinky.

I join you in that prayer.

What is the supposed point of "staying Republican" when the vast majority of those in power operate our Texas state affairs in a manner befitting of liberal "dems"?

Perhaps if a few are tossed out for a season the others will get the message and other true conservative candidates would be more encouraged to seek higher office?

just to send the GOP a message

Just to send them a message? They didn't seem to get the message in any other matter, so people could hardly be blamed. Maybe next time the imbeciles will listen.

"Those polls are being done by Bell & Strayhorn. I heard in on radio this morning."

Then there's a bull in your radio and his ARSE end is pointing at the speakers.

Rasmussen is a REPUBLICAN pollster. He is very fair and impartial when he does his job.

He used to be 1/2 of the famous "Battleground Polls"

Your right, about November... we will see.

I just hope my fellow Texans are not so stupid to vote in a joke like Kinky! It all started as a bet with Don Imus, and then Willie got behind Kinky.

That shows me right there, that is not someone I would want as Gov of my state. We would be a joke around the country.
Texans will not go that route imho!
