Well, here it is, five years late, but here just the same: an apology from an Arab-American for 9/11. No, I didn't help organize the killers or contribute in any way to their terrible cause. However, I was one of millions of Arab-Americans who did the unspeakable on 9/11: nothing.
The only time I raised my voice in protest against these men who killed thousands of innocents in the name of Allah was behind closed doors, among the safety of friends and family...

Taqqiya. These apologies are a little too little and too late. They have seen what we are doing to their jihad around the world and are trying to put the genie back in the bottle...

Very good, and I understand his reluctance to speak out. In my world, when people don't like my opinion, they argue with me. In his world, people who speak out often wind up dead.

Excellent. But what chance does it have for becoming a 'movement'? I am sure there are more out there....but they are not in CAIR, are they?

I think you have to understand the fear of very real consequences, especially in places with large Muslim populations, like New Jersey, in which radicals are known to hide.
Besides, the motivation isn't as important as the statement. The more statements like this that are published, the more others will feel empowered to speak out, and that is also a goal of the war on terror.

Five years after that awful day, it's time for all Arab-Americans, and Arabs around the world, to protest against Islamic fascism, to raise our voices - and, where necessary, our arms - against these tyrants until their plague of terror has been driven from the face of the earth forever.Indeed.

He is a voice in the wilderness. I wonder what CAIR's response is going to be to what this man wrote.

This is fine and all from this one man, but if mooslims are to alter the perception that they're religion is a "cult of death", they - ALL OF THEM - need to be screaming at the top of their lungs from every roof top, mosque, street whatever, for these terrorist to be killed or caught and brought to justice...
The silence has been deafening.

I'm glad he feels that way, I guess. But he is one grain of sand. And unless I missed it, he only said he was from the ME. I didn't see where he said he is Muslim. I'll look again.
My belief is that the vast majority of Muslims say nothing because even though they themselves might not ever murder someone, they agree with the ideas behind what the terrorists do.
That is why they sit by an DO nothing.
And that is why I hate all of them.

He says there's nothing in the Koran to indicate Islam is anything other than a religion of peace. Parts I have read call for death to infidels and so forth.
To: EveningStar
Well, good for him...
Uh, was that on Page One??
Or, maybe prominently displayed in the Editorial section??
I sure hope the NYT didn't bury it on page 18, at the bottom of the page, because very few will ever see it, much less actually read it..

What a pleasure to read something like this.

He says there's nothing in the Koran to indicate Islam is anything other than a religion of peace. No, that is NOT what he said..
Go back and read it again..

I think the Salman Rushdie treatment has been a great silencer for many more Muslims.
