This is the trouble we have made for ourselves by going along with sanctimonious ideas like a World Court. Sen Robert Taft warned about such things when the Nürmburg trials were held.

By the same token, after WWII we effectively legalized "patisan" (guerilla) warfare, purely because the Soviets and their friends had used it. Now we are stuck with having to treat as combatants enemies who wear no uniforms, and indulge in all sorts of acts formerly considered war crimes.

That is why terrorists like Hezbollah are now OK, but a regular army like the IDF is considered "criminal."

Civilization has taken a big step backwards. Perhaps the only correction would be for the US to just announce that we will not honor any "third party" courts. I am afraid that no US politician would have the guts to do that.

Let's see. You fire random rockets at Israel, and that is all right because it is an "act of resistance." The Israelis counter-attack, and accidently kill some civilians (after warning them with airdropped leaflets to clear out!), and the Israelis are the "war criminals." It's nuts!

Until these "courts" of "Universal Jurisdiction" have tried some cases against Islamists for terrorist attacks and slaughter -- they can kiss my hairy white ass..

They should be happy I'm not making the decisions on how we conduct this war --- much of the Middle East would already be a single layer of smoldering radioactive rubble.

if these scumbags from places like belgium(no war crimes in the congo for over 100 years?right!) try to arrest israeli citizens travelling abroad,i would think it okay for israel to resurrect the crew that hunted down the munich terrorists-this considering that no "war crimes" by syria, iran, russia, china, etc are being pursued by these cowardly euro-trash-imagine them arresting a chinese diplomat!i don't support israel on every issue, but they are definitely being held to a double standard

We know which European nation is behind it, and as usual, there's no mention of that in the headline.

The United Nations would be well-advised to not press this issue. The organization is not strong on credibility.

If they didn't mess with Israel, Israel would never mess with them.

International Law is being twisted to protect international outlaws from their victims.

the enemy of Israel was not wearing uniforms

They were wearing IDF uniforms.

Which is why they are not covered by the Geneva convention. Maybe I should have been more specific in saying that they weren't wearing uniforms that identified which side they were fighting on. "All's fair in love and war," at least as long as you don't get caught. If you get caught in the opposition's uniform, then you should be summarily shot. But then again, not all terrorists or hezbolla fighters in lebanon were wearing IDF uniforms. My guess is that a lot of the "civilians" were actually supporters, if not actual combatants.

It is not going to be quick," she said. "Any credible legal work is going to have to be put together slowly and carefully."

I wonder who is paying for all this crap......and since when did starting a war immunise you from guilt.....
