UNITED NATIONS Secretary-General Kofi Annan has refused to fill out a newly minted U.N. financial disclosure form, rejecting advice of his inner circle that doing so would send a good signal as the U.N. seeks to counter allegations that it is closed to public scrutiny, U.N. officials said Thursday.
The U.N. unveiled new rules last year that tightened staff financial disclosure requirements in effect since 1999. Annan is not required to fill out the form because he is technically not a staff member.
Nonetheless, two U.N. officials told The Associated Press that several of Annan's top aides had recently urged him to disclose his finances. They argued that even though he is not a staff member, he is the chief of the organization and should embody its reform ideals.
Annan's refusal is awkward because Malloch Brown and Annan's chief spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, had both promised that he would fill out the form. Annan has been a leading advocate of reforms aimed at cleaning up the U.N. and its image in the wake of corruption claims in its procurement division and the oil-for-food program.

The Democrat's cut and run policy should include the UN.
That line by itself is enough to discredit this whole article and source.
No worries, Kofi has done his best to destroy any credibility that the UN may have had...
The UN needs to be dismantled and it's members deported.
They could pass a resolution threatening to do something. That's what they do best.
"It is hereby resolved that if Koffee does not release his financial forms by January 15, 2007, he will cease to be Secretary-General. Should his term of office end before this date, this resolution shall have no power just like all the other ones we pass."
Gee. What a surprise.
Put me down as a "NO"!
Smirking. Oil-for-food scandal? Was there really a scandal of the century involving oil-for-food? I do not believe I read or heard much about this in or from every important media outlet and I know that if it was a meaningful story it would have been heavily covered. < sarcasm off >
Anyway, Kofi probably thinks his son got into enough trouble for the whole family.
It behooves Kofi to release his financial disclosure form especially in light of his son's involvement in the oil-for-food debacle. But again, logic is lost on the left.
Go figure.
He's not going to be hurting when he retires in 1/1/07.
Ah. a perfect democrat. Do as I say, not as I do and use everybody elses money to promote my edicts.
