A Party Adrift On National Security INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

Posted 9/14/2006

Leadership: Wonder what national security will be like under a Democrat-controlled Congress? Wonder no more. Minority leader Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats are telling you right now, and it isn't comforting.

Apparently preparing for her accession to speaker of the House after November's election, Pelosi gave an interview Wednesday explaining her views on the war on terror.

If you believe, as we do, that America is engaged in such a global war, and you think it should be prosecuted to the fullest, be afraid — very afraid. For Pelosi made clear she doesn't think the war in Iraq is even part of the war on terror. It's more like a distraction.

"The war in Iraq is the wrong war," she said. "No matter how many times the president wants to say it, the war in Iraq is not the war on terror. The war in Afghanistan was."

That, in a nutshell, is the wisdom of today's Democratic Party, congealed into a semiofficial policy stance. And if Democrats win in November, House leader Pelosi will make it all official.

For the record, the jihadists now sending suicide bombers to create chaos in Iraq don't see it that way. They — and this includes Osama bin Laden — see Iraq as absolutely central to their war aims.

In October, the Director of National Intelligence released a letter from al-Qaida No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahri to the now-deceased Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. In it, DNI said, he affirmed the "centrality of the war in Iraq for the global jihad".

Snip

He also outlined a four-step plan to restore the lost Muslim caliphate and establish radical Islam's domination across the world.

And what was step one? "Expel the Americans from Iraq."

"The war in Iraq is the wrong war," she said. "No matter how many times the president wants to say it, the war in Iraq is not the war on terror. The war in Afghanistan was."

The shear incompetance of this woman is mind boggling.

According to her logic, the war on terror is located only in Afghanistan. Never mind the attacks in Spain, England, Jordan, Syria, Phillipines, Bali, India, Pakistan, Israel, Chechnya, Turkey, Somalia, Yemen, Egypt, Morocco and of course New York City. Never mind the attempted bombings of airlines. Never mind the break up of numerous cells here in the USA. According to Pussylosi, the WOT is located in Afghanistan.

She has no ability to see anything past her rebuilt, botoxed face.

Any studies that show a link between botox usage and brain malfunction??

The Dumbs, never saw a war they didn't want America to loose. I have been wondering if there is anything a Dumb will fight for. The only thing I can think of is abortion. Sad statement for the party of Jefferson. Shoosh.

Even if you think, as Pelosi does, that going into Iraq was the wrong move and not part of the WOT in 2001-2003, you have to be a flaming idiot not to recognize NOW, post-invasion, that the stakes in Iraq for the War on Terror are indeed very high. Handing the jihadists a victory NOW, which is certainly how they would interpret the Democrat policies if enacted, would be a far larger blow to the WOT than she grasps in her itty-bitty little mind.

For some time now, I've thought of Iraq as a magnet that draws jihadists. It makes it more hectic for the Iraqi people than it would otherwise, but it does give us a lot of targets.

Pelosi confirms the premise of Ann Coulter's book Treason. That book documents how EVERY RAT foreign policy since the end of WWII has been a total disaster and has cost huge amounts of human life.

Let's try to imagine the word in 2006 if we had not invaded Iraq. Saddam still in power, bribing EU leaders while funneling $ billions into terror operations in the ME and the West. US still "pinned down" enforcing the no-fly zones over Iraq. No way for us to know what WMDs Iraq is developing or has stockpiled for use by terrorists against the west. All of Al-Queda's and Iran's terror operations concentrated against U.S. troops in Afghanistan, a country with relatively little strategic value compared to Iraq. Libya still moving ahead with it's own WMD program.

Right Nancy. That's the world we would be living in if Gore had been president.

The flypaper analogy. While Afghanistan is more lawless, run by tribal groups, Iraq has a more conventional civilization, and it's own military is stepping up to the plate. I think the Iranian mad mullahs are wetting their underrags at the prospect of a vengful Iran (with the help of the many disaffected Iranians) stringing them up from the lamp posts, which is why they're sending their brainwashed crazies to kill Iraqis.

Vengeful Iraq, not Iran. I keep doing that. Speculation, but I've got to believe that the Iraqis know Iranians are killing Iraqi civilians.

A minority of conservatives want to "teach the RINOs a lesson" this fall by putting the Dems in charge of the House and Senate, giving them much power in the GWOT.

Which begs the question:

What "lesson" would the Dems take from such a result?

In their minds they would "learn" that the American people want higher taxes, Bush impeached, Iraq lost, Terrorists coddled, security weakened, and conservative judges rejected.

They will face obstacles, but they will be able to distract the country and the Bush administration with impeachment proceedings, block passage of any bill making the tax cuts permanent (same as a tax increase), undermine the military in Iraq and in general, weakened national security, and block conservative judges completely. Oh happy day.

I don't think the botox has anything to do with it.

She's a stupid liberal. The botox is just her way of fighting off the ugliness that comes from being a stupid liberal.

"She's a stupid liberal. The botox is just her way of fighting off the ugliness that comes from being a stupid liberal."

Pelosi isn't a stupid liberal. She is a cowardly Blue State Marxist Elitist who would just as soon see this country torn from its historical and religious moorings then see progress from Constitutionalists.

She knows exactly what she is doing as does Harry Reid and company. They are well funded by the Hollywood elite and Euroweenies and have a sympathetic MSM to carry their water.

They are no different than the Soviet Union was in the late 60's early 70's. Only difference is they are in the minority here.
