AP ^ | 9/16/6

Some highlights from the Nonaligned Movement summit's final declaration.

TERRORISM:

Denounces the brutalization of peoples under foreign occupation as the gravest form of terrorism. Asks that terrorism not be associated with any religion, nationality or ethnic group and that it be recognized that the struggle of peoples under colonial or alien domination does not constitute terrorism.

MIDEAST CONFLICTS:

Strongly condemns "the relentless Israeli aggression launched against Lebanon." Promotes a revival of the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. Supports the Palestinian people's "inalienable right to self-determination in their independent and sovereign State of Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital."

NUCLEAR IRAN:

Defends the right of all countries to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes. Declares even the threat of attack against peaceful nuclear facilities to be "a great danger to human beings and the environment." Recognizes the International Atomic Energy Agency as the sole authority on nuclear verification. Encourages Iran to cooperate actively and fully with the IAEA to promote confidence and a peaceful resolution of the issue." Calls for a "nuclear-weapon-free zone" in the Middle East, including Israel.

Non-Aligned Movement? Movement Of Dictators And Islamofascists!

Recognizes the International Atomic Energy Agency as the sole authority on nuclear verification.

I guess the IAEA is officially on the side of these creeps.

The Living Dead today silently announced the preexisting formation of a Nonaligned Movement to steadfastly move in a precisely ambivalent fashion.

The French surrendered the next day, following Muslim rioting.

Did the Democrat Party send a delegation?

Officially they are disqualified because they are still Americans with an A. No matter how left-wing they are they can't attend them.

I don't know why India would stoop to be involved with these terror-lovers (I know this all started with the bipolar world of US & USSR, but that is over now). India has often been the victim of Muslim terrorists.

It has been essentially dead since the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991. The concept of "nonaligned" never really works in anything other than a bipolar world: in a world where the United States is paramount, or in the wetdream of France, Russia, and PR China of "multipolar world" (which is suspiciously similar to the late-19th century pre-Entente Cordiale Europe in terms of geopolitical arrangements) you can't really be "nonaligned" to whom, can you?

Fidel Castro Elected President of Movement Non Aligned Nations

HAVANA, September 15 (RHC) - President Fidel Castro was elected by acclaim on Friday as president of the Movement of Non Aligned Nations, whose 14th Summit began today in Havana presided over by Cuban acting President Raúl Castro.

At the suggestion of Malaysia's Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the heads of the more than 100 delegations of member countries applauded the decision to choose the Cuban leader as President of the Non Aligned Nations, a duty he will assume for the second time.

Shortly before, Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque announced that acting President Raúl Castro would be heading the island's delegation as the Commander in Chief is still convalescent and is complying with the doctors' orders to rest.

The Malaysian Prime Minister also suggested - and it was approved by acclaim - that Raúl Castro would be the acting president of the Summit until Fidel assumes his State and Government duties again.

The 14th Summit of the Movement of Non Aligned Nations began around 10:00 a.m. on Friday after Raúl Castro officially welcomed the heads of delegations. At the Convention Center in the Cuban capital, he shook hands and greeted all presidents, prime ministers and other high ranking officials heading their respective countries' delegations.

After the brief speech by the Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque, the Malaysian Prime Minister read a report on the work of the Movement over the last three years, in which it has been trying to revitalize its struggle in defense of the principles that gave birth to this organization.

"We are convinced that Cuba will do a good job leading Movement. Its record gives us this certainty that the Non Aligned Nations are in the good hands of Cuba and that it will reach higher levels," said Badawi.

My recollection from the 1960s is that "non-aligned" meant "aligned with the Soviet Union and getting money from them in order to scare the U.S. into also giving them money, but because of fears of leader assassination by the KGB, siding unfailingly with the Communists."

(It's a long definition of the word "whore.")

Their loyalty is impressive, since they're still loyal to the Soviet Union, and it doesn't even exist.

But there is a closet Communist "ex" KGB agent running Russia, so the USSR can be said to still exist on some level. And you can bet that the leaders of the "Non-aligned" movement ally with the neo-Soviet in the Kremlin.

Interestingly enough or not, PR China had long been an unofficial leader of NAM (remember Deng Xiaoping's "Three blocs" speech at the UN in 1973?). China had long wanted to become a full member but NAM only gives them "Observer" status. Obviously it would make a fullblown explicit mockery of itself when NAM itself becomes another "pole" in world geopolitics (not aligned to itself? Not aligned to your principal geopolitical opponent?)

NAM is openly making joke out of itself. It officially said it would not align with the Soviet Union, but admits its successor state as an observer?

We all know it is unofficially a bloc of mainly Soviet-backed tinpots (only Southeast Asia could be said to be economically any good), but to see it openly embraces one of the supposedly-not-to-be-aligned countries is another matter.
