Posted on 09/18/2006 11:30:54 AM PDT by thenderson

I just received "An Appeal to Values Voters" from Len Deo of the New Jersey Family Policy Council. The letter is available Online as a Word file through this Link:
www.schundler.org/NJFPC_appeal_to_values_voters.doc

The New Jersey Family Policy Council is looking for:

1) VOLUNTEERS TO BE KEY CONTACTS IN CHURCHES

2) PEOPLE TO MAKE CALLS FROM HOME VIA A WEB-BASED PROGRAM (THERE MAY BE REIMBURSEMENTS AVAILABLE)

3) VOLUNTEERS TO HELP DISTRIBUTE CLOSE TO HALF A MILLION VOTER GUIDES TO THEIR FELLOW CHURCH MEMBERS IN OCTOBER.

If you are interested in being a church coordinator or phone outreach person and have high speed internet access, please contact Len at 1-800-653-7204, or e-mail Q Rim, the NJPFC's "I Vote Values Project" Director at
qrim@njfpc.org

Thank you

Bret Schundler

P.S. Please DO forward this email to your friends.

What churches will be involved??? I think maybe the IRS should look into revoking their tax-exempt status.

Looks to me like Schundler wants to involve people who are active in their own church groups already, and can influence their friends. I wouldn't do a knee-jerk "revoke the church's tax-exempt status" automatically, as there's a big difference.

Members of the clergy can't make endorsements. But, there's no reason why (outside) one member of a congregation can't remind the others that election day is coming up. Or, to hand out the voting record of a candidate.

You're right.

Churches and all non profits are allowed to disseminate voter guides and questionnaires on the ISSUES without making an endorsement for a specific candidate so the voter can decide for himself.

All the organizations, on both sides, do this. It's 100% legal.
