Suicidal Hand Wringing
Townhall ^ | Sept. 19, 2006 | Thomas Sowell

When you enter a boxing ring, you agree to abide by the rules of boxing. But when you are attacked from behind in a dark alley, you would be a fool to abide by the Marquis of Queensbury rules. If you do, you can end up being a dead fool.

Even with a nuclear Iran looming on the horizon and the prospect that its nuclear weapons will end up in the hands of international terrorists that it has been sponsoring for years, many in the media and in the government that is supposed to protect us have been preoccupied with whether we are being nice enough to the terrorists in our custody.

***many in the media and in the government that is supposed to protect us have been preoccupied with whether we are being nice enough to the terrorists in our custody***

The media is not supposed to protect us. They are supposed to report the news, unbiased.---unbiased.

The government that is supposed to protect us cannot because the news is not unbiased and keeps the pot stirred against the government and for the terrorists.

Your quote doesn't say the media is suppose to protect us.

It says the government is. It says the media - along with the government that is suppose to protect us - is "preoccupied with whether we are being nice enough to terrorists in our custody".

You are correct, and your punctuation correction is spot on. The original write should have used it, to avoid confusion.

And as for those in government who are supposed to protect us, it appears to me that most are willing to sell us down the river. All so they can look good in the eyes of the media. A media that hates America.

We must assume that the government cannot protect us. The responsibility for our families' protection remains at home.
