"....we have no objection to Iran's pursuit of a truly peaceful nuclear power program.
We're working toward a diplomatic solution to this crisis. And as we do, we look to the day when you can live in freedom, and America and Iran can be good friends and close partners in the cause of peace."

That's it - that's layin' it out for Iran and the world?
Did W just flinch? Did his knees buckle a bit?
This is not good at all - he's sounding more and more like a European - John Kerry-ish almost.

"truly peaceful"

There lies the key words. I'm sure that most people don't have a problem with any nation having a truly peaceful nuclear power program, besides the whole "nuclear power is bad" arguements that the environmentalists throw up.

The problem is that rogue nations such as Iran and North Korea cannot at this time be trusted that their nuclear intentions are truely peaceful.

If say Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan, and all the other peaceful nations wanted nuclear power plants I'd say "more power to them" with pun fully intended. I cannot say the same for nations like NK, Iran, and oh Venezuela as examples.

President Bush expressed the same goals he has been aiming towards since 2001. He didn't buckle, waiver, flip flop, or waiver in anyway at all. He correctly called our Iran and Syria, he correctly discussed terrorism, he correctly called out the UN to live up to it's responsibilities.

The only way you call this Kerry-esque is if you are a DUmmie or other such troll and trying to plant a seed of doubt. Your seed is flawed, it is made of lies and distortions for which the Left in this country is also made of.

Bush gave a great speech....he's put the Dims back on their heels yet again....way to go Dubya.

You think we have the means to go to war with everybody? That we should be the bully instead of the Islamofascists? We HAVE to work with people. We are not there to conquer them. War is for after diplomacy fails.

Speak with a soft voice and carry a big stick. Be prepared to use the stick, but speak first.

No flinch....We have been in support of nuclear power for Iran (Russia agreed to supply the materials) all along...just there is no need for enriching uranium except to build bombs. He is not changing positions...Kofi flinched and then went to cuba to kiss up to the rest of his buddies. Kofi has made a virtually useless Un into a totally useless UN!

The next time you find yourself wondering that, check out the reactions from the euro lefties or our own lefties. Not happy.

Why was the nutjob hiding from the President's presense? He's seen the writing on the wall. Maybe literally. The nut...

You are simply wrong. I shudder to think what sort of speech Kerry would have given, or indeed where we would be today had we a Democrat administration on 9/11 or post-9/11.

Yes, he laid it out realistically and truthfully re the Middle East, what the U.S. would like to see and is working steadily towards. Even a little reading up on Middle East history and current events would help in understanding why this was a magnificent speech for the President of the United States to be giving at this time.

The President and his advisors understand the history and nature of conflicts in the Middle East. In turn, Middle East nations that support islamic terrorism need to clearly understand the consequences of that support and the benefits of living peacefully with one another and with the State of Israel.

If they choose to continue on the path of aggression, violence and terrorism, they will experience unpleasant consquences. The Arabs, with occasional exceptions, are the ones who have consistently refused to talk peace.

Instead of caving, our U.S. President has drawn the battle lines clearly and understandably for everyone.

You may want to read this speech again. IMHO it's one of W's best.
