That's what happens when *MTV* acts as momma.
You hit it right on the head. I teach in a local HS. I went to a dance once 2 years ago . You cannot believe what they consider dancing . We used to call it dry humping. Add to that to the fact that the girls outfits were practically X rated . I couldn't take it and had to leave. Then they wonder why we have a few dozen pregnant girls every year .

I assure you what I saw at a HS dance was NOT the dirty dog. This was simulated sex acts .The ids were 15 /16 years old as well. Not good .

Thanks, I actually figured that before I posted, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway, just for fun. The town in Sander's movie was Mandrake Falls. I was also trying to work Gilmanton Iron Works [the actual town fictionalized in Peyton Place] in there somehow, but couldn't think of a way to do it.

It also just dawned on me that the Concord referred to must be the State Capitol. I had quickly scanned the article to try to figure out which Concord it was, as the post did not identify it. I had ruled out MA or CA, NH did not occur to me.

God remember Elvis and his pelvis? Give me a break.

I remember that people complained that out-of-wedlock marriages would increase, teenage promiscuity would increase, and divorce would skyrocket as marriage broke down.

Luckily none of that happened.

I opened up the article and browsed the site. I went to the classifieds to see the addresses. That's how I found the NH. I probably should have just gone straight to the paper's masthead. I knew it wasn't CA because that's just up the road from me, so it was either MA or NH.

Exactly.

Why does everyone seem to forget that everything those opposed to "Rock and Roll" (itself a sexual metaphor), said would happen to society, actually did happen.

I certainly don't think it was the cause of all the societal degradation, just one more symptom.

Perhaps the critics were just taking a look around them, and saw what was going on.

They don't seem so prudish and stupid now, do they.

That would be former N.J. Gov. Jim McGreevy, a self described "Gay American".

This thread is hysterical. It's almost completed the unholy trifecta of the gays, Muslims, and illegal immigrants. Somehow we must pin this scourge on the illegal immigrants, and the trifecta will be complete.

That being said, I was in high school in the late 90's and never saw this sort of dancing at school dances. Of course, we only had grossly obese DJs playing horrible music night in and night out so few people ever actually danced.
