I'm trying to remember if it was Sowell who said it or not, but whoever theorized that White America, especially white liberals, have a constant need to single out one African-American man at any given time and annoint him as "King of the Negroes", Sowell's(?) term for the one that we be seen as the oracle who is sought out as the spokeman and True Voice for all African-Americans.

In the past, this office was held by Jackie Robinson (who was politically active in the late 50s and early 60s--for the GOP!), then passed to Martin Luther King. After his death the KotN became Jesse Jackson, who in some sense still feels entitled to it. After Jackson was discredited as the hypocritical shakedown artist he is, Al Sharpton tried to seize the throne, and in some sense held it for a couple years, but he was simply not palatable for white liberals, and so the search for the rightful heir has gone on to Kweisi Mfume, Ron Kirk, and Harold Ford, but all were found lacking. Enter the new Pretender on cue, stage LEFT: Barrack Obama.

I would be willing to bet that Sen. Obama, like Tiger Woods or Julian Bond, is less than half black. Strikes me as reminiscent of Jim Crow to consider these men black. Tiger Woods thinks so too.

"Since she's dead, that's quite a feat."

Yet she still votes 'Dem' faithfully in every election.

Another empty suit..........pretty common in Washington.

They are priming 'the Rising Star in the Democrate Party' for President or Vice President in 2008. He is getting a lot of media coverage in the Illinois newspapers.

Would Barack Obama be even considered for President if he were white ?

The question answers itself - perhaps after 6-10 years of prominent political office, but not otherwise.

He appears to be something of a light-weight, so far, imho.

I read (a female conservative columnist, can't remember which one) that Halley Bailey's white mother raised her after her black father bolted and she used her blackness to get where she is.

Halle Berry's white mother was the one who told her that she would be seen as a black woman by society when she was a children. Remember, Halle's 40, so this was in the 60's and 70's- interracial marriages were illegal in many states until 1967 and many families would disown any mixed race grandchildren. A person with any black blood was considered black - there was no such term as "biracial" 40 years ago.

The Illinois media is slavish in their adulation of Obama. Most recently, print and broadcast hacks accompanied him, writing and broadcasting embarrassingly fawning pieces on what he and they ludicrously described as his visit "home" to Kenya. "Home" is the place the biological dad who abandoned toddler Obama and his mom happened to hail from. Obama had a white mom and white grandparents he hid from the media. As a state representative he represented a black South Side district and it wouldn't have done to have a white mom around. He counts as black, but has not always been black enough. Prior to being elected Senator he unsuccessfully ran for the House against South Side Democrat Bobby Rush. Rush beat Obama handily: he was blacker, his speech patterns more South Side, and his biography more colorful--he's an ex gang member. Obama only won the Senate race because the Illinois media took two opponents off the board by leaking messy divorce proceedings. In effect, Obama was unopposed.

So, remind me now, why do blacks vote 90 percent Democrat?

Cause Dims control education (or the lack of it...)

But he IS white. You see, he is as much white as he is black, but people tend to associate themselves with the group that will benefit them the most because the left sees everything in black/white, gay/straight, man/woman, Muslim/Jew and so on. Everything is slit into groups and subgroups and then we all wonder why America isn't unified.

Media flames racial, gender, and religious hatred. Yet they act like they are so tolerant of others. That's why most of Hollywood doesn't even use their birth names because they are so tolerance of differences.
