You don't have to excerpt Houston Chronicle stories.

DALLAS — About a dozen residents of a Dallas neighborhood beat a man after reports that he had been showing pornographic pictures to children on a playground, police said.

Brandon Scott Burke, 20, showed up Wednesday at an Oak Cliff apartment complex and was alleged to have shown a magazine with pictures of naked women to some of the children playing there, police said.

When one of the mothers saw him and asked Burke what he was doing, he tried to run and the woman started screaming, said Elizabeth Williams, the mother of another child. According to a police report, Burke said about 15 men "jumped him and hit him repeatedly on the face with their fists." He suffered minor injuries, police said.

At least four children saw the nude pictures, police said. Burke was arrested on suspicion of harmful display to a minor.

What an idiot.
Only try this sort of thing in Massachussetts, Vermont or some other
place with a much higher percentage of folks who think it might just
be too judgemental to stop someone showing porn to kids.

Good,

The sooner that people with some value take care of situations like this themselves and leave the liberal gestapo out of it, the sooner that our culture will come back to a healty center.

15 men beat him and he suffered minor injuries?

Who attacked him? A bunch of limp-wristed couch potatoes?

Maybe "minor" injuries in Texas just means not ALL of his ribs were cracked.

Pity they weren't all armed with sjamboks:

I always take mine whenever I walk my dog - both for my defense and his (he has been attacked by another dog in the complex).

What the libs don't get, though it's right in fron of their faces, is that when people lose confidence in the justice system to keep them safe and secure, they start taking care of business themselves. It's not always pretty, and sometimes (though evidently not in this case) it's wrong. There's a lot to be said FOR a full trial. But if our gov't will not protect us, well, I'm enough of a Hobbesian to think I have an inalienable right to protect my loved ones, my property, and myself.

I think it is commendable that 15 people went to "help" him when he fell.

I have a CCW as well as several pistols but I keep the sjambok next to my dog's leash. I'm not always wearing something that has a pocket to conceal a pistol. I've also told the owner of the dog who attacked mine (as well as animal control) that if he ever gets loose and does it again I WILL kill it!

Simply priceless. Now watch the police say that the citizens shouldn't take matters into their own hands.

What is the difference between what that man did in showing children porn and what some librarians do in ensuring children maintain access to porn? Indeed SafeLibraries.org was started because top ALA leaders ensured children retained access to Playboy magazine in a public library. Why does the ALA (American Library Association) get to award an oral sex book as the best book of the year for 12 year olds and not have communities of people running after them to do the same justice? Could the difference be that the guy in the park is all alone but the ALA is an influential organization of over 60,000 librarians that also trains thousands of lawyers nationwide to ensure children retain access to inappropriate material despite the law and multiple US Supreme Court decision?

Do we judge the criminal actions of people differently merely because one is alone and the others are part of a large, nationwide organization with near total control over American public libraries and public school libraries?

From the ALA Policy Manual:

52.5.2 Sex Education Materials in Libraries

ALA affirms the right of youth to comprehensive, sex-related education, materials, programs, and referral services of the highest quality; affirms the active role of librarians in providing such; and urges librarians and library educators to reexamine existing policies and practices and assume a leadership role in seeing that information is available for children and adolescents, parents, and youth-serving professionals.

SafeLibraries.org - Are Children Safe in Public Libraries?
