Fighting enemies without, and within
Washintgon Times ^ | Sept. 22, 2006 | Martin L. Gross

The coming November election may well be the most important political contest of our history.

This November, we face another decisive contest, one in which the Democratic Party again threatens the security of the United States. Once more, the Democrats seek a so-called peace based on isolationism and defeatism.

Should the Democrats take the House in November, California's Nancy Pelosi will become House speaker, and our security will be subordinate to partisan politics.

Democratic control of the House will halt American security in its tracks. Already, a California Democratic congresswoman is calling for surrender, claiming the administration is exaggerating the Iranian nuclear threat.

This editorial is right on, no exaggeration. Read the entire article.

Read the whole thing -- hope it will motivate people to get out and vote for Republican candidates and not allow the Dems to undermine and destroy our security.

100% agreement BUMP! (about his contemporary advice--NOT the part about FDR fighting Communism...)

Gross wrote a book, 'The Red President' that I read during the 2004 Bush/Kerry race--scary parallels.

Red is still Commie, we need to get our old Blue=nonCommie paradigm back.

"...hope it will motivate people to get out and vote for Republican candidates and not allow the Dems to undermine and destroy our security."

Do you mean vote for Republicans that are not "perfect?"

This editorial must be seen in the context of America turning blue and a blue America should be seen in the context of a world map which is everywhere already blue. Our mountain states and Southern states strategy which has worked so well since Nixon in gaining us the White House is now rapidly becoming a defensive strategy and that is a sure recipe for loss in politics where one is either on defense or offense, and offense almost always wins.

Demographics is destiny. The truth is that our coalition in America is vulnerable at many points and if we lose even one state, such as Ohio, Virginia or Florida, we lose the whole game. The hard truth is that we are vulnerable and becoming increasingly vulnerable in all three of the states and others as well.

This is a defensive strategy because we are unable to penetrate into the Northeast or the upper Midwest or California as those states turn increasingly blue. Meanwhile our red states are changing demographically. Florida is in danger of surrendering the whole state to the suburbs of New York, Dade, Palm Beach, and Broward counties. Virginia is in danger of surrendering the heritage of the Old Dominion to a few counties surrounding DC. (May God help us, this is the state of Washington Jefferson and Madison not to mention Lee and Jackson). Senator Allen who once had real ambitions for the White House is now in the fight of his life against the Washington Post to retain his Senate seat. Ohio may be already lost. Pennsylvania has gone and with it alas, Senator Santorum, who may not be able to survive as a shining beacon against the corruption of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Technologically, the party has done miraculous work in its ability to get out the vote. And this is all to the good but it is, after all, shoveling against the tide. And the tide is irresistible and swelling daily with waves of legal and illegal immigrants who will turn more and more states blue.

According to Al Qaeda papers seized by Norwegian counterinsurgency agents, it is the stated intention of these terrorists to delay an attack on the homeland of America until they accomplish our diplomatic isolation. They had better hurry because of the Democrat party gains power in 08 it will be difficult to distinguish America from Europe and demographics tell us that, absent a dramatic intervening event such as another 9/11, it will be very difficult indeed to prevent the whole of America going blue. In power, the Democrats will proceed to "internationalize" our war against terrorism which means that we will cease to wage war and commence to conduct appeasement in the style of Western Europe.

The author, Martin Gross, has said just exactly that in one of the two most important points he makes in his editorial:

The best that can be said for the Democrats' foreign policy is that it is naive, even foolish. At worst, it aims to weaken our security and reduce America's role in the world, making it subservient to a United Nations controlled by China and Russia.

I think the worst case is the real case: Democrats aim to "weaken our security and reduce America's role in the world making it subservient to a United Nations..."

I normally shrink from conspiratorial assertions, they are almost always wrong, and one should have pause before accusing one of the two great American political parties as seeking to undermine their own country. But we are talking about a party, as the author points out, not of Truman and Atchison and Scoop Jackson but of Dean and Pelosi, George Soros and move on.com. Can anyone believe that George Soros would put America before his arrogant dreams of world government?

The author makes one other very compelling point which I should also like to quote:

Iran is the ultimate enemy. With the Democrats controlling the purse strings in the House, America will be powerless to stop Iran from developing a nuclear bomb. How will the president receive congressional approval for action to destroy Iran's nuclear sites before it is too late? Must he risk impeachment to defend America?

The author is absolutely right, Iran is the enemy. Indeed, Iran is the linchpin in the war against islamo-fascism. George Bush has really only a short window: between the day after election Day 2006 to the end of spring 2007 to strike militarily against Iran, if that is our only option. In any event, since it must be the implacable strategic aim of the United States to prevent Iran from getting nuclear weapons, George Bush will probably have to strike with or without the support of Congress. He will not get Democrat support, if the Democrats are in control of the House, he will not get congressional support. Hence the author's observation that Bush will face impeachment. If Bush elects not to act militarily against Iran, the first fateful decision of the 21st century will fall to the next president whom demographics destine to be a Democrat and who almost certainly will shrink like Bill Clinton from taking the only action which can prevent his country from suffering stealth nuclear attacks.

If one believes that the war is real and that these terrorists would use weapons of mass destruction in our homeland if given the chance, then one must confront the reality that this is actually a war for the lives of our children and for the survival of our democracy. For, if terrorists can succeed anonymously in employing weapons of mass destruction in our homeland on two or three occasions, our country, which is already 50% blue, will surely surrender.

Just as the demographics are running against us around the world with Muslims infiltrating Western Europe and popping out babies after they arrive, so America is challenged by the same demographics of internal migration and immigration.

Providence has blessed America with its sons, raising up at the critical moments a man who can turn destiny on its head. Without Washington, no revolution. Jefferson, with the Louisiana purchase, opened the gates to our manifest destiny and Jackson walked through to give us our early southwest and Polk gave us our present Southwest. Without Lincoln, no inseparable union. Roosevelt was the right man on December 7, 1941 under Churchill's tutelage (Churchill was after all half American) In Truman, Churchill found another president he could enlist in the world war against communism. Ronald Reagan dismissed the conventional wisdom and turned it on its head and set out to win the cold war.

For all his faults, for his blindness over immigration, for his profligacy with the treasury, for his flirtation with Clintons and Kennedys, for his penchant for cronyism, George Bush has the Christian character, meaning selfless patriotism and courage, to turn demographic destiny on its head.
