Arnold Schwarzenegger has until next Saturday, September 30 to act on the crush of bills sent to him by the legislature at the end of their session. There remain over 700 bills on the Governor's desk. According to his office, in 2006, he has taken action on 458 bills, including ones sent to him earlier in the year. So, in the next 6 days, the pace of announcements will be picking up from here.
So far, of the 261 vetoes by Governor Schwarzenegger on legislation from the 2005-2006 session, 252 of those bills were by Democratic authors and only 9 were from Republican legislators. This means that only 3.4% of the bills vetoed were authored by Republicans and 96.4% of them were by Democrats. So much for bipartisanship.

Schwarzenegger has approved 100% of the most important fiscal bills the Democrats have submitted to him. That's 100%. A perfect record. Schwarzenegger is absolutley dependable to act as the Democrat's water carrier.
Never once has he vetoed one of these bloated spending authorizations to allow Republican legislators to have a say in California's governance. Never once. He has, in fact, gone out of his way to circumvent Republican legislators, working directly with the Democrat leadership in the legislature to assure their cooperation in booking his liberal, fiscal legislation.
Schwarzenegger is a shameless liberal, working to undermine and consternate Republicans in the legislature as they fight to stop the huge spending increase he constantly proposes.
I'm working on determining the proportion of Dem vs GOP bills. They aren't making it easy...
Not by the vast majority of Freepers who preferred the conservative Republican almost 3 to 1.
Were it not for the rabid, Republican partisans that frequent FR, the Austrian probably wouldn't even have been a honorable mention.
This is taking longer than I anticipated.
???
What is the percenttage of Republican-authored bills that make it to the governor's desk versus Democrat-authored b
Oh nevermind. Scumbag Democrat site. "Only a fool argues with a fool." Etc.
See ya on another thread.
Well, thats all fine and good. But Freepers are not exactly your typical Californian are they? You cant expect the California electorate to come even close to people here in there thinking.
Signed Vetoed Total Committee Bills 73 2 75 Democrat Bills 606 243 849 Republican 221 16 238 "other" 9 9 Total 909 261 1171*Note: There were some bills (I would guess 20 or less) that had joint authors from opposing parties. I tagged those to party under the first name listed on the bill (example: Leno/Devore's Hemp bill was attributed to Leno).
Minor correction:
In 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 910 bills and vetoed 262. There are no bills remaining on the Governors desk.
(you missed one bill he vetoed)
http://gov.ca.gov/index.php?/print-version/press-release/4237/
Looks like he vetoed 29% of the Dem bills: 243/849
Picky, picky, picky.
" In 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 910 bills and vetoed 261. There are no bills remaining on the Governors desk."
Of course, they need some new clerks up there in the administration who can count. Compare these two status reports from earlier press releases. I added the totals in [brackets]
9/26/2006 - In 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 478 bills and vetoed 29. The Governor has 664 bills remaining on his desk. [Total 1171]09/27/2006 - In 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 513 bills and vetoed 29. The Governor has 619 bills remaining on his desk. [Total 1161]
9/28/2006 - In 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 590 and vetoed 69. The Governor has 503 bills remaining on his desk. [Total 1162]
09/30/2006 [revised] - In 2006, Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 910 bills and vetoed 262. There are no bills remaining on the Governors desk. [Total 1172]
I believe you.
That's why I said "minor error", it's not a big deal.
With so many bills, it's easy to miscount and miss one.
Apparently the error was in the governor's office.
I would bet there will be minor corrections in the next few days on their website.
Even that same long press release, "Legislative Update", that you linked to says: "Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 110 bills and vetoed 72 bills."
Yet, if you count them, only 102 are listed.
