I wonder how quickly those FReepers who urged forgiveness for Mel's anti-Semetic remarks will abandon him now that he's come out against the Iraq War.
Will he ask for forgiveness this time?
Just because a guy makes a movie about Jesus Christ does not mean he embodies Christlike attitudes or doesn't have serious personality disorders or is not filled with hate.
I have never admired this angry, narcissistic, intolerant and greedy man. ( I also don't like him). Most of his movies show his rage. It is possible to make a movie about the passion and death of Christ without the gratutious violence that puts it on the level of a snuff film.
The Mel Gibson themes just keep on...the narcissism, the greediness, and of course the rage. Note his bizzare comment re similarity of Mayan and American societies..." HUMAN SACRIFICE ".
The guy is sick, sick, sick~!
(later, I will tell you what I really think of him!)
I think he was looking for an easy way out of the kess he originally created w/o having to have to visit every rabbi in the world and beg forgiveness
He's an actor, he makes movies....Anyone who relies on an actor's view of world politics is a damn moron.
I urge no forgiveness for any of the mentioned remarks. He can go back to Australia.
He came out against the war long ago, and has spent time with Michael Moore providing defense for the propagandist.
Anti-war I can tolerate.
pro-Moore? I wrote his opinions off after that.
Oh probably some. Kind of curious. You do realize the two issues are completely different. That it is a complete logical fallacy to try and link two?
Your position here is not at all intellectually defensible. It is absurd to demand one's opinion be forever set in stone about another person simply because of a past event.
You do realize Mel Gibson came out an apologized for his anti-Semetic which was why those Freepers advocated forgiveness? I suspect if he later apologizes for his remarks on Iraq those same Freepers would again advocate forgiveness. It is after all a Christian thing to do.
He wasn't under the influence when he came out against the Iraq War. Furthermore, the Iraq War is a hot issue in the upcoming elections.
We don't need to be defending those who would have us cut and run. Let the DU do it.
