another thing - with the - I assume - chip technology involved - and with a gergillion units of info now possible to encode on a minuscule chip - who's to say there isn't a built-in tracking component?

They did use almost zero lock time as a selling point, that was the only other thing they could come up with.

From a practical perspective, what difference does lock time make in a rifle (or even, for that matter, in a shotgun)? If you're shooting at a target 100yds away with a mach 2 rifle, it will take over 150ms (from the time the primer ignites) for the bullet to reach the target. Even the time for a fairly slow rifle would seem slight by comparison (especially considering that rifles are often used at ranges over 100yds).

It appears for no longer than this rifle was in production, not many people were impressed enough to fork over the money for the Extronic Rifle.

Remington will never say, but I think it is safe to say they did not make any money on this grand PC idea.
