NEW YORK -- The race for United Nations secretary-general is moving into its final weeks with South Korean Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon well in front, but the late entry of Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga, who would be the first woman in the post, muddles the odds. Seven declared candidates are now in the running to succeed Kofi Annan in January, and more could enter. They include a U.N. official who writes novels, the deputy prime minister of a recently deposed government, an ambassador with a passion for disarmament, a prince with peacekeeping experience, and a former World Bank executive from a shattered nation.

You're welcome!
What? Clinton not named?
"Ban Ki-moon"
Oh, won't we have fun with THAT name!!
Looks like she doesn't take much crap... I wonder how the Islamists would react (not that they ever heeded the UN to begin with)
Are you disappointed?
What a total scam.
Hillary gets into the whitehouse and its a done deal.
No wonder Clinton was so mad lately.
I like this one more: Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
She/he reminds me of Boutros Boutros Ghali, the man so nice they named him twice (from a Letterman Top 10).
I believe the south korean is a candidate by China.
He opposes membership by Taiwan.
He blocked the Dahli Lama from visiting South Korea at the request of China.
not very promising based on that information.
Then agains I doubt ANY of them will be very promissing.
I thought no one from a country on the Security council could be Sec-General. If true we don't have to worry about X-Pres Clintong getting the nod.
This is the final piece of the puzzle for the Islamofascists, trying to get us all living under the role of the Koran!!!
Does this mean John Bolton is not being considered? I am shocked!!
South Korean moves ahead in race for U.N. top post
