I enjoy those games. Three yards and a cloud of dust with some big hits. Loved that game!

Many people don't. You must be old-school Central Division.

You're right, this is a stupid poll.
I like to see polls that are seek better answers, such as asking what your favorite play was, or your favorite game? Mine is above.

So far as I know the writers of that song pitched it to Pittsburgh (which apparently wasn't interested) before they pitched it to Houston. I heard it on Pittsburgh radio when I was a kid (KDKA maybe?) when I was a kid. Anyway, a year or so later I heard it as "We're the Houston Oilers."
The NFL keeps track of sales -- it used to be that Oakland was one of the top teams for NFL-licensed merchandise. Of course those were the days when they were winning. Has anyone seen any data on that lately?

In other words, meaningless. Name ID = "favorite team" to those who don't follow football. Close, means as in, who are the teams that fans are most willing to pay money to either buy stuff of, buy tickets to, or watch on TV.
Studies like this, are run separately from name ID studies (which are never, ever released).
Studies like this, simply tell the league, which teams can bring cash to the league......and often times are wrong.
FWIW. The Oakland Raiders usually hit up high on a lot of these surveys.

Oakland jumped the shark some yrs. ago.
The other week the San Diego Chargers beat them 27 - 0
The following week Chargers beat Tenn. 40 - 7

"Although I'm a lifelong Cowboys fan, I always liked the Oilers, particularly during the Snake/Campbell/Renfro years."
I really admired Bum Phillips and was really hopeful when he joined the Saints and brought Kenny and Earl with him. Unfortunately, Mecham was too involved and only interested in filling seats as opposed to building football teams. Which is why for too many years all the Saints had were "Golden Oldies" who were supported by too many inferior players.
