Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys Are Favorite Teams Among U.S. Adults
Harris Poll ^ | September 26, 2006

Posted on 09/27/2006 7:56:05 PM PDT by ConservativeStatement

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2006 Super Bowl Champions, the Pittsburgh Steelers, are ranked as the No. 1 favorite National Football League (NFL) team among U.S. adults who follow pro football. Though the Steelers were in the top five last year, this is their first time at the top of this list since tracking began on this topic in 1998. The Dallas Cowboys remain at No. 2, a position they have held since 2004. Rounding out the top five are the Indianapolis Colts (No. 3, moving up five percentage points from last year's ranking), the Green Bay Packers (No. 4, dropping from No. 1 in 2005) and the New England Patriots (No. 5). These are the results of a nationwide survey conducted online by Harris Interactive(R) between September 7 and 13, 2006 among 2,747 U.S. adults, of whom 1,306 follow professional football.

Jones turned the Cowboys into a joke?

The 1990s Dallas SB teams were football gods. At the very top of the league were the Cowboys in a class by themselves. Next below them were the SF 49ers. Next below that was everyone else.

Is it a case of 'what have they done lately?' If so, you're a real Cowboy fan. Our motto has always been "We're with the Cowboys. Win or tie."

Your life is really limited.

Everyone loves the Cowboys...

either that or they hate them.

But no one is indifferent to them...that's all we ask.

Personally, I love them. Always have. Now, T.O. ....

Cowboys were cowboys on and off the field under Tom. Johnson led Landry's boys to the Super Bowl. jones treated Landry badly, but it was time for him to go - I just don't like how he was treated. Under jones, how many are heroes off the field? How many are arrested for drugs, etc? Landry had them gone - Like Hollywood Henderson (who credits Tom's actions for helping him).

They were America's Team under Tom. Now they are a typical whining bunch.

WE DEY!

Not sunday. And did you notice how the bengals acted after their impressive win (minus Odell Thurman)? They didn't do the chant, they didnt rub it into the Steelers. They simple went about their business of packing their things and returning to Cincy.

They looked good in their throwback jerseys against the Jets. Their normal uniforms are ugly.

The Oilers stole that song from the Dolphins.

Yeah, only one guy got arrested. A good day for Cincinnati.

You mean the Arizona Cardinals weren't at the top of the list?

You think Marvin would get the hint that drafting thugs isn't always the best policy.

As good a linebacker as Odell was his rookie season, I wouldnt care if he ever donned the bengal stripes again. Same goes for Henry if he screws up again. Im through supporting criminals.

"My two favorite are the Bears and whoever is playing Green Bay. :)"

Funny you should say that. Mine are the Green Bay Packers and whoever is playing the Bears! :-)

The Cardinals are going to be playing in a college stadium for a school that doesn't even really exist. That's some trick.

Why do you hate America and apple pie?

I don't hate either one. I guess I should have been more clear... Pro Football is almost as lame as Soccer.

This is no surprise...when I began watching football in the '70s...the two top teams were the Steeelers and the Cowboys. You were a fan of one and hated the other.

I am 41, so it would figure that adults now, who were childhood fans then, would still bear allegiance to one of those two teams.

I am still a Steeler fan, though I live in Kansas. My husband, a Cowboy fan. But, I still love him!

Hardly. They were a bunch of overpaid, steriod using, whiny, snivelling, snot-nosed punks. (Just like the rest of the NFL)

Sorry about being the #2 pick in the draft and, thus, missing out on Reggie Bush...

Wait... what?

Maybe he's just a big fan of stopping the clock after each first down.

College ball is okay, but I prefer more sophisticated sports like Hockey and Lacrosse. Football is too slow.
