Owens really screwed up his last two years in office. First, he pushes hard for TABOR then pushes to 'pause' it. He had legit reasons, his hands were kind of tied, but had he seen this problem coming he could have done things differently in the first place.
Beuperez has proven to being a very uninspired candidate. I don't know how he won such a tough Congressional district but can't seem to run statewide.
I'm hoping for an upset, of course, but realistically this isn't going our way this time. Which is a shame. Owens really had a lot going for him for a while, and so did Colorado.
Let's just hope Colorado doesn't go until 2034 before electing another Republican Governor (the amount of years between John Love's final election victory in '70 and Owens's in '98). Like I said, despite the difficulties, the last time the state got a taste of a 'Rat legislature and a 'Rat Governor, the former got returned. But let's pray that Beauprez pulls off a miracle (and unfortunately, as I once documented, having a RINO Governor as an incumbent is toxic for a Conservative GOPer running to succeed them, they almost always lose to the last).
Should the RATS control everthing in CO, I'll bet you'll see numerous laws passed with the intend of "giving the finger to James Dobson and Tom Tancredo."
I wasn't really being serious, but considering the attitude many people here take toward anything French, you never know...
