Democrat Take-Away In Colorado State House:
In an election for Governor of Colorado today, 9/28/06, Democrat Bill Ritter defeats Republican Bob Beauprez 55% to 38%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KUSA-TV Denver. The election is in 40 days, on 11/7/06.
Since an identical SurveyUSA KUSA-TV poll 6 weeks ago, Ritter has gained 5 points and Beauprez has lost 2 points. Ritter's lead has grown from 10 to 17 points.
Ritter leads by 29 points among women and by 6 points among men.
Ritter gets 89% of Democrat votes. Beauprez gets 74% of Republican votes. 20% of Republicans cross over to vote for the Democrat Ritter. Independents favor Ritter 58% to 25%.
Ritter leads by 16 points in the Colorado Springs area. 6 weeks ago Beauprez led by 23 points in Colorado Springs, a 39-point swing.
Those who approve of President Bush's performance support Beauprez 79% to 12%. Those who disapprove of Bush support Ritter 83% to 10%. 38% of likely voters in Colorado approve of Bush.
Incumbent Republican Governor Bill Owens is term-limited. Should Ritter win, the State House will switch from Republican to Democrat. Beauprez currently represents Colorado's 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House.
Filtering: 1,000 Colorado adults were interviewed 9/25/06 - 9/27/06. Of them, 867 were registered to vote. Of them, 532 were judged to be "likely" voters. Crosstabs reflect Likely Voters.
I usually don't worry about what Gubernatorial races mean, on the whole, but Beauprez's deficit makes things harder on the GOP candidate for Beauprez's old House seat, and potentially on Representative Musgrave, too. On the other hand this may not mean anything for those other candidates. After all states like OK and KS elect Rat governors and states like NY and CA elect GOP governors.
That POS/Rocky Mtn. poll might have actually been close in the CO-Gov. race.
Well, we're still waiting on Rove to bring our gas prices down below $2.60. It seems he's forgotton us, but once he gets around to Colorado, Beauprez will go higher.
Why is Beauprez lossing?
What the hell is wrong with Colorado lately??? It has turned left, big time!
I would imagine that CO people would like to bring back Roy Romer, but he is in Los Angeles. So they will just settle for the Democrat on the ballot. Too many Republicans always seem to sour CO voters over time.
Could the name "Beauprez" be hurting him? Some people like "regular" names.
Well I'm sure it's partially suffering from "California Syndrome" of LA and SF libs migrating into Montana, Idaho, Nevada, and Colorado, too.
But that shouldn't really put Beauprez down 17. I don't know why he's down so much.
Like Ben Nighthorse Campbell ?
Face it, Owens has been as corrosive to the state GOP as Taft has been in OH. RINOs will be our death.
CO first began to turn left in 1974 with Gary Warren Hartpence.
Owens, who once worked as a young man for "Fort Worthless" Jim Wright, started out conservative. Did he veer to the left too? It seems that's what CO wants -- leftists.
As I recall Owens is soft on immigration, but what else has he done to warrant being called a RINO?
Do you think Marilyn Musgrave is in trouble in her race?
This will be a disaster in Colorado. The dems will likely keep control of both houses of the legislature and gain the governorship. They are as in thrall to the unions as their fellow travelers in Calif. Charter schools are gone. Homeschooling is in trouble.
The idiots in the Republican party who engineered the death of the Taxpayer Bill of Rights managed to do it just before the dems took control--may Bill Owens rot you know where. So deficits as far as the eye can see, here we come.
And, worst of all, reapportionment is coming up and the state will be gerrymandered beyond recognition--so kiss off one or two R seats in congress and forget the R's taking control of the legislature for the forseeable future. Colorado is done and gone and there's nothing we can do about it. It will take us decades to recover from the 2006 election.
I thought I could escape this crap when I moved here from Calif. The monsters just took a few years longer to destroy this beautiful place than they did Calif.
I've lived in Colorado since 1984 and sadly, the influx of Californian's has been a big fat negative for our once solidly red state. Transplants from CA have brought their high crim, their attitudes, and their high prices here, along with their tendency to vote Democrat. *sigh*
09/27/2006 9:45:08 PM PDT: A new poll released by Zogby in today's Wall Street Journal shows Democrat Bill Ritter's lead of Republican Bob Beauprez evaporating in his quest to be Colorado's governor, replacing Republican Bill Owens. The poll shows what was once a solid double-digit lead now down to within the margin of error. Ritter leads Beauprez 45%-43%, with a margin of error of 4%....
As I said, Gary Warren Hartpence laid the groundwork in 1974 for what will happen 32 years later -- total Democrat control of CO. When the GOP won't stand for anything, that's what happens.
Well perhaps it's because "Beauprez" means "pretty fag" in French, and Coloradans rememeber "Freedom Fries".
