>>>Wal-Mart, the nation’s largest private employer, is pushing to create a cheaper, more flexible work force by capping wages, using more part-time workers and scheduling more workers on nights and weekends. >>>

I'm beginning to hate Walmart about as much as the leftists do.

Walmart is forcing it's employees to Medicaid because they offer no solutions. When a majority of your employees are on socialized medicine, and you are the largest employer in the country... something is wrong with this picture.

Sam Walton would be spinning in his grave over wage caps.

We have a free-market economy. WalMart is not obligated in any way to provide health insurance for their workers; no business is. As a publicy-traded company, WalMart's primary fiduciary obligation is to their owners, the shareholders. If WalMart can recruit and retain an adequate workforce without offering medical benefits, so be it. No one is forced to work for WalMart, and if employees don't like the wages, benefits or working conditions, they are free to seek employment elsewhere at any time.

If you've got a problem with low income workers being on Medicaid, your beef is with the politicians who write the entitlement laws, not with WalMart.

Personally, I have a beef with the politicians and with WalMart employees who don't prepare themselves to compete in our economy and then complain about their situation. Note to whining WalMart employees (not all, just the whiners): If you want more money, more time off, better benefits and better working conditions, GET AN EDUCATION and get qualified for a better job. With 4.7% unemployment, better jobs are out there waiting for qualified employees.

They offer as good a package as you can find and it is easily available. That canard is union B.S.

Maybe you need to take a long look at yourself then. Wal_mart "forcing" employees to Medicaid? Yep, you're turning liberal, if you weren't already.

Nice that you're believing in one of the biggest liberal lies alongside Global Warming.

Wal-Mart employees are taxpayers just like everyone else. If you don't want them on Medicaid, then abolish the system. But until then, don't being in favor of Medicaid picking and choosing who can leech off the system.

And where would those employees work if they did not work at Walmart and what kind of health benefits would they have? Do you ever think before you make silly comments like the one you posted above. This is RETAIL. RETAIL has NEVER PAID anything unless you are in a union, and union wages drive up the costs of goods for everyone and are counterproductive to our society.

I for one can not support Wal-Mart, who suppresses the earning capibilities of it's employees (the elderly and families) while giving discounts to those who advance 'diversity.'

WALMART ASKS FOR AND RECEIVES PERMISSION TO JOIN HOMOSEXUAL GROUP

AMERICAN FAMILY ASSOCIATION - Wal-Mart, the largest retailer in the world, has asked for and received permission to join the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. The NGLCC is a leading promoter of homosexual marriage.

Although Wal-Mart has never excluded homosexuals from being employees, customers, or suppliers, the company wanted to be more closely identified with promoting the homosexual agenda. Wal-Mart is now a "corporate member" of the NGLCC, putting their approval on the NGLCC's efforts to abolish the definition of marriage as the union of one man and one woman. A Wal-Mart vice president will serve as an advisor to the NGLCC, helping them promote homosexual marriage.

Wal-Mart agreed to give $25,000 to the NGLCC and to pay for two conferences scheduled by NGLCC. Also, Wal-Mart will give homosexual-owned businesses special treatment when making purchases. Companies not owned by homosexuals will be moved down the list.

NGLCC called Wal-Mart's action "part of the company's ongoing commitment to advancing diversity (homosexuality) among all of its associate, supplier and customer bases."

Are you saying the government should force companies to provide health insurance?

"When a majority of your employees are on socialized medicine..."

...then maybe the root of the problem is the socialized medicine.

Other than you, who/what says employer sponsored health care is the law and that Wal Mart is in violation of your law????? Why don't I see a mass resignation of employees based on YOUR alleged offenses against them?

Unfortunately you are the only thing wrong in this picture but ignorance can quickly be overcome via education.

Start by creating your own business then allow me to force you to pay me a "living wage" and provide me with healthcare.

You're too easy.......

Non-Sequitur

Well welcome to the same world that the rest of us have been living in for the last decade. Every company I know of is taking steps to rid itself of older, higher paid workers either through outsourcing, internal evaluations, layoffs, and anything else they can think of. If anything Wal-Mart is late out of the gate on this tactic.

JoanneSD

I dont think Walmart has the only supply of illegals doing janitoral work, One only has to look around my city, and wonder if all the janitors are green card holders...working in Sears, Pennys, Walgreens, Gap, Macys. and in most any mall

RightField

Even public school districts have been doing this. Where's the Democratic outrage at that?

DonaldC

...this is happening across the board regardless of the business and education status of its employees.

All true... this is also happening in highly skilled fields... particularly hospitals who recruit candidates for full time/salaried positions to hook them for the interviews, then call to inform them they are the big winners for an on-call per diem or part-time 3/10 to 5/10 positions...

This is happening all over the place... hospitals are going broke from all the people who cannot or will not pay the bills, illegals get free everything... insurance companies raise the rates to cover higher charges by hospitals to recover the loss, nobody has health coverage or has to pay up the rear for it if they do have it...

But wait, there is more...

Democrats demagogue the issue (as always) and do nothing about it because illegals will vote for them... Republicans, like the Democrats, also do nothing while mouthing platitudes, because they are afraid they will be called racists, protectionists, etc., etc...

When are people going to stand up for what is best for the USA and not their own selfishness?

Only if you are a homosexual illegal immigrant with AIDS will you get any attention at all..
