"Which child do you pick up first? Which child do you make sure is safe first?" And this to them was, probably for many of them, the most traumatic moment of their lives, something absolutely horrific. All they want in a leader is someone who will make sure they never face that moment again, that sort of choice again.
Amongst the rubble and confusion, that's something I've never considered happening to people on that day...
No, me neither. In fact, my children were homeschooled at that time, and I worked from home.
But I'll tell you what: all those freaking morons who say, "Oh, Bush was in a school with little kids when the Trade Centers were attacked" as if that's proof of his incompetence as a leader...I'll bet those mothers would say, "yes, yes he was in school, with those little children. How blessed they were to witness strength of character in that awful moment...and to have their President with them..."
I'll bet those children will be patriots, too.
Thankfully, we didn't have that dilemma. We had just begun homeschooling our younger two who were in 6th and 8th grades at the time. They sat with me all morning watching the news coverage. It was the tragic ultimate in Current Events.
