The more I hear Democrat pundits the more I have to laugh. Bob Beckle is on Hannity & Colmes saying: 

"Everyone in Washington new congressman Foley was gay.... if people (Reynolds & Hastert) knew and they did, that he was gay even if the messages were [innocuous]... and those kind of, even that seem to be fairly uh, uh, uh... If you have a series of emails, first of all if you know that somebody has had, this is a potential issue and he is emailing pages asking for pictures... I would think that that would raise some questions. That's correct [nothing explicit in the emails] but I keep going back to the context, if Willie Sutton is around someplace where a bank is robbed you probably going to say Willie stay away from the banks."

Now, Bob Beckle is certainly an intelligent man but he is rambling incoherently, instinctively wanting to say "Republicans should have hung the queer last year," while fighting internally with himself knowing that gays are a Democrat constituency. I've never seen him so flustered.

Hannity put Beckle into a position of trying to defend the Gerry Studds (D-MA) in 1983 who actually did have sex with a male page and when the music started he smiled and said "well, OK we gotta go."

The problem for the Democrats is that they are saying that because Foley is gay, Hastert should have known that he could be a child molester, which exactly the opposite stance that they took with the Boy Scouts. They can't have it both ways.
