MSNBC May Drop Live Newscasts

Industry buzz has it that MSNBC, the perennial also-ran in cable news, is considering the prospect of essentially dropping its live-news format and devoting itself entirely to taped, newsmagazine-style programming.

And much of its content could likely be repackaged from NBC News. One indication of the possible move came in July when the network launched a newsmagazine, "MSNBC Investigates,” the industry publication Broadcasting & Cable points out in a recent edition.

---> SNIP <---

"The unspoken truth in all of this speculation is that there are simply too many all-news networks and only so many people to watch them,” according to Broadcasting & Cable.

"As the owner of a network that’s stuck at the bottom of the cable news heap, NBC Universal has little choice but to make a radical change if it wants to differentiate MSNBC from what the other guys are doing.”

Oh, please, let Olberman's career die a public, painful and protracted death. He is such an evil person.

I know someone involved in the production of his show for MSNBC and the description this person provided is "truly a psycho of epic proportions. Not one of the brightest people on the planet." They keep working with him because they've been promised that if they put up with this bozo they'll be moved to the network as a reward. I hope this person, who is truly talented and, though liberal, not a psycho, comes out of this OK.

John Seigenthaler, Jr is about all the MSNBC net has to offer. He is from an old line news family, decidedly left of middle, but respectable.

Are you required to, or are you just remote challenged?

Though I rarely watch it, I've noticed in passing by on the on-screen directory they have been having a lot of 'MSNBC Doucmentaries' listed.

The documentary is definitely taking over, if only it would take over the 8:00PM time slot for that windbag Olbermann. MSNBC is the worst cable news channel out there and should just get the transition over and become the 24-7 to catch a predator network since NBC loves that show so much.
