It's been around for a hundred years, but hasn't been popular for much of that time. The TBN faith healers, prosperity preachers, and false prophets running around claiming false miracles are what has boosted interest.

Seeing the church has existed for 2000 years and that a 1000 years to God is as but a day in time to God -- a 100 years could very well be a fad.
