NYer was kind enough to start a Christian Martyr ping list here. I had mentioned it on another thread.
Perhaps you know of people who would like to follow news about the Persecuted Church, xzins?
I thought it might be refreshing to occasionally snatch a few moments from the eternal Calvin/Arminius/pope bashing on the Religion forum and instead learn about and look for ways to help those persecuted for the name of Christ.
Perhaps we could all think about helping the persecuted now and wait to bash their theology later when they're not being murdered, raped and driven from their homes.
GRPL ping here as well. Remember our persecuted brethren. The Protestants have brethren in many Muslim countries. The Baptists also have an interest here, for instance, with the Arab Baptist Seminary and the Baptist School in Beirut. Even the Anglicans have an interest in the region in places like Egypt.
I'd like to urge everyone to consider joining NYer's Christian Martyr list.

Is it not a capital offense against islam, to convert away from it? According to their good book?
As you well know, it is not a good book. It is a thoroughly evil book.
And you are right that it is a capital offense to try to leave Islam. Because the Evil Book says so.

I am involved in a group called Crescent Project, an organization devoted to bringing Christ to Islam.
Crescent Project sounds interesting but their website is a little sparse. Looks like a young ministry. Are they primarily an outreach to American Muslims? Are they denominational?

Islam and Freedom are eternal enemies. When Bush let the Iraqis put together their worthless crap constitution that states that NO LAW SHALL CONTRADICT ISLAM, our President placed our troops in the ridiculous position of fighting for islam. I agree completely! Rediculous as it may seem, the Christians in Iraq were actually safer under Hussein. Its actually the same as if we had allowed Germany to adopt a constitution saying that "no law shall contradict NAZI doctrine."

"Rediculous as it may seem, the Christians in Iraq were actually safer under Hussein." Why is that ridiculous? Saddam treated Christians well and courted them, as they are throughout the Middle East more highly educated and wealthier than the rest of the Muslim population. Furthermore, the Baath party was founded by a Syrian Christian, Michel Aflaq.

When the Mongols conquered Baghdad, they put every Muslim to the sword. However, since one of the Khan's wives was a Nestorian Christian, at her request the Christian population was spared. So for one brief moment in history, the city was 100% Christian.
What happened?

>>Correction Fatima Zahra, daughter of prophet Muhammad and wife of the 4th Caliph of Islam Ali.<< Yes, that is who the wife that converted was named for. From Wikipedia... >>Fátima (pron. IPA ['fatimɐ]) is a city in Portugal famous for the religious visions that are said to have taken place there in 1917. Fátima is a city of approximately 10,000 inhabitants located in the district of Santarém in central Portugal, 187 km south of Porto and 123 km north of Lisbon. Fátima is a parish (freguesia) in the municipality of Ourém. The name of the city (formerly a small village) comes from the Arabic Fatima, and derives from a local Muslim princess named Fatima who, following her capture by Christian forces during the Moorish occupation of Portugal, was betrothed to the Count of Ourem, converted to Catholicism, and was baptised before marrying the Count in 1158. Her baptismal name was Oureana (Oriana). The name of the town Ourém derives from Oureana.<<

She firmly believes that Mary is the key Not trying to be contentious, but the fact is that Mary's Son is the key, not Mary.

Fouad Masri grew up in Beirut and is a Christian. He and others started Crescent Project, based in Indiana, not only are they reaching to Muslims here in the U.S. but globally as well. One of their goals is to send New Testaments to all the Muslims households in Indiana.
I am just getting involved in this myself, Fouad spoke at our church and this ministry really clicked with me. To find out more you can go to our Churches website
http://www.zionsvillefellowship.org/teaching/archives.shtml scroll down to the dates 8/20 and 8/27 teachings. These are the two dates Fouad spoke at our church and you can find out more of what they do.

There is one Mediator between God and man, and that's Jesus (1 Tim. 2:5). There is no co-mediatrix. Mary was the blessed vessel through whom Jesus came into the world. I'm grateful for her, and hold her in high esteem. But she's dead. And Jesus is sufficient. Let me say it again: Jesus is sufficient.
I'll stop hijacking this thread. Just wanted to inject a bit of Scripture into the false doctrine being bantered about....

Furthermore, the Baath party was founded by a Syrian Christian, Michel Aflaq. Indeed, what you say is correct. The ridiculous part is that we have spent thousands of American lives and hundreds of billions of American dollars, and what have we accomplished? Another Islamic Republic!
In our last 4 military operations, since Vietnam, we have:
- Sponsored a new Islamic Republic in Iraq.
- Sponsored a new Islamic Republic in Afghanistan.
- Supported the Islamic invasion of Kosovo.
- Restored an Islamic Monarchy in Kuwait.
I see something ... terribly wrong ... here. I do have more appropriate words than "ridiculous", but this is a public forum.

To the Father in Heaven through Jesus Christ, for there is no other mediator. Scripture states that Mary will be called "blessed" and so I call her "blessed" and no further, respected, appreciated and blessed, but the Holy Spirit has the job of convicting of sin in the world.
