Darky, keep thy place!

On the Oct. 5 edition of Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor," Bill O'Reilly excoriated Columbia University for some of their students' treatment of members of the Minuteman Project when they were invited to speak there by a campus Republican organization last week.

The Minuteman Project, according to its website, is a citizen organization that is "not a call to arms, but a call to voices seeking a peaceful and respectable resolve to the chaotic neglect by members of our local, state and federal governments charged with applying U.S. immigration law."

Reasonable enough, according to the polls reflecting most Americans' opinions on the subject. However, the Minutemen were heckled in the most uncouth manner by what appeared to be a majority of those present (judging by the video footage). This prompted O'Reilly to call for a suspension of all donations to the school by its alumni.

And well he should, in my estimation – but what I would like to call attention to is not so much the infantile and odious behavior of the Columbia students, but their treatment of Mr. O'Reilly's guest, the first speaker at the event.

Marvin Stewart, one of the members of the Minuteman Project, is an outspoken Christian. He is also a black man. During the interview with O'Reilly, Stewart related the story of having been subjected to an onslaught of racial epithets by the students, members of a socialist campus group that had somehow secreted themselves (and their signs and banners) into the auditorium.

Here's a partial transcript:

STEWART: Prior to Jim [Gilchrist, the Minuteman Project's founder] coming out, [they] were throwing racial epithets out there toward me.

O'REILLY: What did they say?

STEWART: The N-word. I'm not going to dignify it on air, right now, Bill. The N-word, sell-out – you name it, they said it.

O'REILLY: All right, they are harassing you verbally.

STEWART: Oh, they were trying to shout me down. But I was only emboldened to continue what I was doing. … It was apparent that these were undisciplined students. … And to attempt to violate my First Amendment rights to speak was a disservice, not only to themselves but the university as well.

Things apparently got so bad that Gilchrist (the second scheduled speaker), never made it to the microphone.

The point I'm going to make – which is a reiteration of that which I and other conservatives of varying ethnic backgrounds have said – is that the left, although they claim a monopoly on tolerance and the "big umbrella," are intolerant, hateful elites who prove themselves to be the real bigots time and again, despite their projection of these traits onto the right.

My lifetime experience has been vast in this area, being of mixed race (though a superficial visual scan usually yields "black"). I have experienced more bigotry and discriminatory behavior from those who professed to be politically liberal than I have from people who were admitted racists. Think about that for a bit.

The idiocy exhibited at Columbia University is but an extreme example of how the left operates on all levels. Sometimes it is more subtle. For example, while George W. Bush has some of the most brilliant and talented people of color in his Cabinet (Dr. Rice springs to mind), in Democrat administrations, quite frequently they are true tokens, timorous fixtures who are expected to cravenly obey and drone the leftist dogma, particularly where matters of race politics are concerned. If they become a liability or are so rash as to step out of line, they are summarily shot from a cannon with all due alacrity – some may argue, faster than a non-minority would have been. All assertions to the contrary, the left (to be fair, I won't say all Democrats) expect minorities to be grateful and "know thy place."

This is precisely what the stalwart Mr. Stewart experienced at Columbia. The severity of the fracas generated was due primarily to the audience being among the worst of the young, spoiled, narcissistic and arrogant generation of liberals. For his composure and dignity throughout, I would like to shake that man's hand at the very least – a bear hug would be preferred.

BOR said something that really irritated me last night when talking to Michell Malkin about this. He said the "right wing militias" blew up the Murrah building in OKC. I really wish Michelle had called him on that lie.

democrats ... expect minorities to be grateful and "know thy place."

That's exactly what they do and these people still continue to think the left is on their side.

Don't minorities get the fact that as long as the demmies keep them "oppressed" they can keep getting voted in?

It's interesting to watch how the open border elites do anything they can to avoid acknowledging minorities among conservatives in general and especially among the Minutemen.

Liberals assumption that anyone of color is or should also be liberal is demeaning, insulting and racism in it's purest form.

BTW, I'm surprised BOR only irritated you once. It was getting to where I was hitting my mute button on him for a while but his bad habit of talking over his guests' responses made me give up watching his show entirely.

...his bad habit of talking over his guests' responses...

LOL! The few times a month that I tune into the no-spin-zone, I come out with "Shut up, Bill!" at some point...for this very reason.

I make some exceptions, as when Barry Lynn or any of his ilk show up.

I allow myself the leeway to say "shut up" when I'm talking to the TV screen...it can't get insulted!

Ditto. Since when did a "right wing militia" consist of two people, with probable assistance from a terrorist operative. Oh wait, McViegh spent a day at some camp that likes to target practice with guns. I'm still waiting for the FBI to capture the "right wing militia", and put them behind bars.

I used to have a few of those foam bricks made just for television tossing. Pretty much wore them out during the Clinton era.

Nowadays the lies, spins and attempts at brainwashing come out in such a steady stream from ALL mass media it's worrying, to me, if such a constant bombardment of BS is actually ruining a significant segment of the population's mental stability.

Four out of five dentists agree that we must bother our doctors should we feel sad, suffer from occasionally drooping garden hoses or just have that "not so fresh" feeling.

McVeigh did go to a single Michigan militia meeting and they called the FBI because they rightfully recognized him as a threat.

My only consolation is that they probably can't load an AR, much less hit anything with one.
