Neil Nails Nancy: How the GOP can offset Foley Scandal (Vanity)
10-12-06 | no dems

Sorry for the Vanity Post but I just had to relay this.

I was listening to Neil Boortz yesterday and he nailed it. If the GOP would, they could turn the table on the Dems where the Mark Foley incident is concerned. Here's what he said and it is not an exact quote:

Nancy Pelosi assailed the Boy Scouts of America because they did not want to allow gay Scout Masters in their organization. (She even wanted to take legal action against them because they do not want a gay, adult man to take young boys camping.) Now, she assails the GOP House leadership for not keeping a gay, adult congressman away from young boys. What's wrong with this picture?

This is the lady (?) who marched in a parade in San Francisco with a man who promotes man/boy love. The utter hippocrisy of Pelosi and her despicable, Dem cronies is beyond belief.

Maybe we should get Chris Shays to lay this out to the American public since most Pubbies are, ostensibly, cowering in the corner hoping this "scandal" doesn't cost them their seat in November.

Here's one thing the Republicans could do. Say we share the shock and repugnance over Foley's behavior. Will the Democrats join us in a sense of the Congress proclamation urging local government to make illegal the acts Foley implied he wanted to do to the pages?

Because believe it or not, everthing Foley was suggesting was PERFECTLY LEGAL.

Cource it would have been more effective if they'd called the democrats bluff on day 2 of the scandal.

And now they are trying to forge ahead being "anti-gayness around the babies"?

And, if they're not careful, it could backfire on them from their "Gay base support".

WOT, Nkorea, Iran, Russia, Latin America -- but some think the Repubs should be focused on the Dem kiddie game?

It's not like the GOP is exactly defending their record on any of the other things you bring up, either.

WOW! That's powerful, but the spineless bunch we have in Washington will never go for it.

Then they really don't want power very much.

I suspect it'd be a lot more fun to be a minority congressman. No pressure to produce anything but all the perks. You can concentrate on arranging Capital tours for constituents in the morning and knock off for the day at 11:00 am.

Never thought of it that way. But, power corrupts and many of these guys who have been there for a gazillion years like Jack Murtha and John Conyers hate losing their power as the controlling party.

Just in case you missed the thread today about the Dem candidate for Governor of Ohio (Congressman Strickland) being tied to the Foley scandal, check this out.

How do you defend a "record" (on those things) when it is happening right now?

His record: He went after those who perpetrated 9-11. And continues to do so. That's his record. His record: Best darned economy since whenever. That's his record.

Southack, could you please list the Bush Record to date?

It has backfired on them -- except on those gays still playing at muscle politics.

Cource it would have been more effective if they'd called the democrats bluff on day 2 of the scandal.

And if they knew about all this Dem Foley-gate, they would have. But it does prove, or appear, they didn't know. Some declare that Republicans never respond "fast enough"; but Republicans are also not knee-jerk -- and this is critical in world and state leaders. Witness Mr. Clinton's latest meltdown.

You mentioned Chris Shays - I'm stunned by his statement. Maybe the dems have stabbed him in the back one too many times ..??

It's about time some of these TRUTHFUL statements were made about the dems.

Shays is right, Hastert didn't drive his car off a bridge and allow an intern to drown and then hold a press conference the next day. Hastert didn't kill anybody .. and I'm glad to see the President will be campaigning with him today.

I know his record, you know his record, but it doesn't seem like the NRCC and NRSC, not to mnetion the so-called talking heads who are conservative, want to talk about it.
