The left's assumption is that the American public is too stupid to see through their lies.
That certainly applies to the democratic electorate.

It is possible that S.A. manipulates prices in order to support Pres Bush. That wouldn't surprise me at all.

re: The left's assumption is that the American public is too stupid to see through their lies

I worked for several years in the newsroom of a major daily newspaper and it's my honest opinion that Left really believes all the trash they talk. They honestly don't have the notion that they are telling lies.

I went into that job thinking that they knew the difference but after a few years of watching them day in and day out I came to the conclusion that they really do think that way. When it became apparent that they felt they were telling the truth I made a short, but very disappointing, attempt to educate a couple of them. No deal. Their Leftie beliefs are somehow DNA encoded I think. They simply do not think the way conservatives think. It's like there's a short-circuit somewhere and info goes in, is shunted to a part of the brain that's either not there in conservatives or hyper-delveloped in the liberal, and then it comes out their mouth or pen as liberal mush. I loved my work at the paper, but it was just too much for my poor conservative being to tolerate.
