There were other resolutions directly related to the ceasefire that the UN utterly failed to really do anything about, leaving Dubya as the only one with enough backbone to actually do anything about Saddam

"The language is directed at North Korean leader Kim Jong Il, who has a long, documented record of living a life of luxury while his people wasted away in famine."

This didn't work on Saddam, why would they think it will work on dear leader?

They (in this case, the "they" are the ChiComs and Russians Soviets) know it's not supposed to work as stated, just like the inspection regime put on Saddam wasn't supposed to actually keep WMDs out of his hands.

I was curious as to what your opinion as to which country poses a greater threat at the present.....North Korea or Iran.

That's too vague. Narrow it down a little. Threat to whom?

Dwink to what? Kim Jong Il knows that the UN doesn't have the bawrs to enforce the sanctions! China will act behind the scenes to assure they are not.

I doubt the Chinese will be any help at all when it comes to cargo inspections.

You're probably correct on this. It would not surprise me at all that a backroom deal was made that will exempt China and SK from doing inspections. Just watch. The first inspection carried out by the U.S. will be met with outrage in the world community, China and SK included, that will claim the U.S. is overstepping it's authority.

The General Assembly will probably pass a few resolutions against U.S. bullying and Democrats will blast Bush endlessly and criticise our every move.

Not a bad idea, really.

Japan's threat alone should have been enough to bring China around to supporting the resolution.

I've said before that winter is coming and the North Korean people are already starving. It's going to be catastrophic for them.

sad but true but nothing will change until the Army starts starving and reality really sets in.

Just like the UN, dont actually do anything, just vote to do something, some day, soon perhaps.

North Korea has been making a bomb for most of my life, and the UN has been spending my taxes most of my life on things I cannot afford.

At least North Korea accomplished something.
