San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's new squeeze, Brittanie Mountz, just turned 20 last month -- and that raises a couple of questions about the couple's nights on the town.
The biggest question is whether Mountz has been drinking, and it's been swirling since the pair made their first public appearance and walked down the red carpet together at the San Francisco Symphony in September.
At the time, Mountz had a MySpace page that said she was 19. It now says she's 26.
But according to the Sonoma County registrar of voters, the Rohnert Park resident turned 20 on Sept. 17 -- three weeks and two days before Newsom turned 39.
A model by day, by night the Sonoma State alum works as a hostess at San Francisco's trendy Aqua restaurant, where she and the mayor met.
Photos of Mountz holding a wine glass during the opening of the new Westfield San Francisco Shopping Center, where Newsom also made an appearance, raised some eyebrows.
The photos had been posted on society photographer Drew Altizer's Web site this past week. After Chronicle City Hall reporter Cecilia Vega began asking whether Mountz had been drinking alcohol at an event where the mayor was present, the photos promptly came down.
The questions infuriated Newsom, who told a group of reporters Friday, "I've got to deal with all kinds of terrible calls from reporters doing horrible things that are mean-spirited."

LOL, well said. I think it's amazing that concept actually has to be explained to some people.
No kidding. I work at a place filled with young girls working entry-level jobs. I get about 1000% more attention from the young hotties now that I'm in my 30s than I EVER did when I was in my early 20s. Young women are attracted to older, more mature guys. The guys their age are still kind of awkward and silly.
Generally speaking, of course.

If this is an accurate transcript of the real conversation with the mayor, I fully expect terrorists to go after S.F. in a major way any day now, out of sheer lack of respect. I just hope they do it during northerly winds so that the fallout goes onto Marin County, and not over to my Silicon Valley. :-/

My girlfriend is 23 years younger. But it is the affinity between people which is significant not the age.
I dated a girl who was 23 years younger than me. I loved it. But at least she wasn't practically a teenager.
While I have generally had relationships with younger women it isn't because that was what I sought. It just worked out that way. My first wife was 8 yrs younger but passed away at 43 after 20 wonderful years. My second was 13 yrs younger and it did not work for long due to reasons which had nothing to age.

You're wrong. When I was 39 I was with a 19-year-old. It was very much a meeting of our hearts and minds. She was not a typical 19, though. She was mature, intelligent, and stable. We were both quiet people, but we never lacked for any conversation between us. We shared common interests and philosophy, and even tastes in entertainment. The reason it didn't last was solely due to external pressures from my daughter and ex-wife. That's where her age defied her - she didn't have the strength of years to withstand their derision and pressure.
But that's just my experience.

Actually, in independent tests, Wikipedia turned out to be slightly more accurate than Encyclopedia Brittanica Online.
