Elementary politeness also includes simply advising someone to remove you from a ping list that was created because of your response/comment to the sender's article or post and indicated an interest in the subject.

It's not an unrelated out of the blue sky, random selection of a name.

You insist to have things done TECHNICALLY per STRICT rules - the way you like or want. SPAM truly starts as a criticizable nuisance if AFTER you have indicated you do not wish to receive messages that the sender continues to do so.

The first one, specially on a non-commercial basis - to which SPAM truly applies as opposed to a community website - is in itself a query. SPAM is unsolicited COMMERCIALLY motivated messages.

Your more convoluted method, on which you insist as the ONLY way, ends up serving the same purpose.

I would have had to send you a message asking you if you wished to participate. ONE Email to which you would have had to respond.

You received ONE Email to which you responded and took care of your desires.

No lack of manners involved just a different method to achieve the same ends. In either case you received or would receive only ONE Email.

FYI you are only the SECOND person who received a ping from me who has asked not to be included.

Not a bad track record! If you read the other posts, you will note multiple, general responses by those pinged was to thank me not condemn me - like a schoolmaster to a pupil.

See how much of your and my time you have now wasted with your disciplinary attitude?

On the contrary, you can post threads without pinging anybody, and in them or in responses, state your general invitation. Anybody interested can then take the initiative and tell you they desire to be included. If nobody ever looks at your stuff and never knows to sign up, guess what? Nothing in the world is the worse for it. I realize you believe everything you say deserves the immediate attention of all the world, but that is the ordinary self delusion of your average self promoting idiot. The world turns in sovereign indifference to your existence.

And you've done more than waste my time and your own. You have as far as in you lies set an awful example that would inundate this board and others like it with endless piles of unwanted drivel, and have defended doing so.

I run my own forum elsewhere. I spend half an hour each day deleting useless unsolicited crap, despite having automated systems to get rid of most of it. Here on FR, where staying entirely within the guidelines and mostly responding to existing posts not posting vanities, and never having used anything remotely like a ping list, I've managed to post something like 10,000 times and reach those I wish to reach - I use replies received to track a half dozen ongoing conversations at a time. And your unsolicited crap gets in the gears every bit as much as the unsolicited commercial crap I have to deal with elsewhere.

As for what spammers deserve, drawing and quartering is too good for them.
