Bump. All politics is local(?).

Great stuff. One wonders, however, how deep the African-American vote turns out. Same with the Jewish voting "bloc", particularly the pro-Israeli.

Funny how some of those civil rights laws are really about restricting the freedom of people to economically associate as they please.

Oh my goodness, you've put alot of work into this! I'm going to BUMP your thread and bookmark it so I can give it the credit it deserves. That means I don't want to "speed-read" it, I want to read it slowly and absorb it. Thank you, FARS. BUMP!

If I see a group like the Democratic party endangering me and my fellow citizens through sheer stupidity - or perhaps more accurately by their desire to grab power at any cost to anyone else

IMO It's the latter.

Good history lesson. They believe it because the Democrats have pitied them and provided them comfortable excuses. The Democrats treat the poor and minorities like children and many like being treated that way. I think it goes to something deeper or rather shallower and that is the prevalence of "surface thinking" among even those who occupy the higher echelons of intelligentsia. They just say things and accept things that everyone in their social niche already believe on faith. The great truth seekers, I fear, have become a small group and those that dare step forward and speak up are labeled hate mongers and small-minded by those who best fit such definitions.

Truth has been defined to be "that which is pleasant to thine own ears" by growing numbers of people in this country and sadly these individuals do not know better because they have not been taught better in the bankrupt public schools from which they acquired their intellectual start. These same schools fail to teach their pupils the discipline they need to succeed, they focus on trivial ego gratifying approaches with a chaser of sexual perversion justified in the name of protecting these students from consequences of sexual intercourse all the while offering up a barrage of stimuli that are likely to encourage it.

The distilled approach of liberalism to solving most problems is not unlike trying to put out a fire with gasoline. You have a dysfunctional school so you give those who run it even more money in hopes it will become more functional? I can make with full confidence the statement that there are no schools in this country that are dysfunctional because of lack of funding but when education is discussed that is almost entirely the extent of the conversation that a liberal politician will consider. Standards aren't important because teachers are exempt from being questioned. These same people who exclaim with wide eyes the patriotism of questioning the government find themselves floundering when it comes to dealing with the facts of rampant waste of public funds, lack of results, and the violent bitter children that we see in growing numbers in our schools.

Why African-Americans, Women and Hispanics believe the Democrats have been the source of their current freedoms is a mystery beyond resolution.

They don't know their history....but then the same can be said for most Americans.
