I've never voted for a Dem, and I'm not about top start now... I live in CT, and still can't vote for Lieberman, who's still a lib to the core... I'll be one of the 5% that votes for Schlesinger

As if fresh or stale makes a difference with twinkies....

You obviously didn't get my memo. That's OK - I live to serve.

TWINKIES GO BAD!

Not having much experience with Twinkies, I didn't know this, either. All I had ever heard was that they are indestructible.

That seemed like a good reason to have Twinkies in my non-perishable food list for my hurricane kit this year. I got a good deal on two boxes of them, so brought them home.

After about a week, I decided I should sample them - I don't ever have anything like Twinkies in the house, so they could be construed as a "treat."

Yum. I really liked them. Fast forward two months ...

Word came down that we probably wouldn't be having any hurricanes here on the TX Gulf Coast this year, so I dismantled my hurricane kit and put the food in the pantry. But I wanted that 2nd box of Twinkies!

Bah! They were moldy! Moldy! Like old bread! Green powdery mold was on them! I never want to see a Twinkie again as long as I live. Please spread the word:

TWINKIES GO BAD!

We in America do not have government by the majority. We have government by the majority who participate.

Remember, remember the seventh of November
The Democrats' scheme and plot.
I see no reason why the Democrats' treason
Should ever be forgot...

Oh, yum, I love eggs foo yung, especially the deceptively simple sauce! That's Yan's recipe, isn't it - from Yan Can Cook?

I use molasses instead of sugar and a tsp of vinegar, plus a splash of sherry (alcohol boils out), some minced garlic and some of the sliced scallions in my sauce. My sesame oil is *toasted* sesame oil which has a rich taste that I highly recommend.

Good eats!

Hurray! Broken glass (R) person here. And I mean that in every way. I may literally have to crawl to the polls, but I will get there.

Pray for me that I may breathe normally again - and right behind that, pray that my brand new shellfish allergy will also go away so I can have linguini with white clam sauce again! Thank you for posting.

I shall wake up election morning and drive to the little one-room schoolhouse where the voting is done in Cocolalla, Idaho.

You reminded about one fact that shows the Republican Party always has more significant success in turnout. If you look at the 2000 and the 2004 maps of counties won by Bush vs. Gore/Kerry you of course see an image overwhelmingly colored red. You'll also notice that the more rural the redder. The more rural the further one tends to have to travel to excercise one's vote. No subway or buses or, in some cases, even taxis. You either got yourself there or asked someone to help. That takes preparation, dedication, a spirit of civic duty. No great union pick-up vehicles that can canvass a square mile of apartment buildings with more eligible voters than some small towns where people have to travel three, five, seven miles to excercise their franchise.

Granted absentee voting is changing some voting habits and the idea of "heading to the polls" but for the most part those rural voters are traveling further and voting Republican.

In regards to those conservatives that expect ideological perfection and can't vote for RINOS, most of those RINOS are from majority Democrat states and more often than not they are the best we can hope to get in most cases. Hugh Hewitt is right in saying that even a Lincoln Chaffee's 35% of votes along party lines (I have no clue - that's just a rough guess) is still better than a 20% or 15% Democrat. It's a reality of two-party politics with the large coalitions of various interests neccessary for victory that RINOS (and DINOS) will exist until a truly viable third party was to emerge.

So hold your nose if you must but remember the infinitely worse stench that would be created by a Democrat majority.

Hi Carlo!

It's great to see your posts again!!!!! Maybe I've just been missing them...

This isn't really a recipe, but more of an idea to incorporate into one...

My very favorite Italian restaurant of all time has been closed for a number of years now: DeFemios of Yonkers, NY, on Tuckahoe Rd. The perfect meal was "Linguini DeFemio" which was some sort of sauce, similar to your white clam sauce, with more stuff, and more types of seafood...

But the thing that really set it apart was the wonderful onion rolls they served. I wish that I could tell you exactly what was in them, and I've tried to make them at home, but while tasty, they've never been quite right.

What I've made at home was using Pilsbury crecent rolls. You saute sweet (preferably vidalia) onions in LOTS of butter, and mix in a good amount of cinnimon. That's the key: The sweet onions and cinnimon make an amazing combination of tastes. That mixture is layered on to the crecent roll, and then rolled up, slathered with butter, and a few additional shakes of cinnimon.

It's from a song..."Memphis women and fried chicken...both are greasy and...finger lickin'"

Don't blame me...I didn't write it...just like to sing it...much to the annoyance of Wife and Neighbors, Hehehehe!

It's not the sort of combination most people would think of, but it's heavenly when done right.

I'd only get to NY one or twice a year, but I HAD TO EAT AT DeFEMIOS when I arrived! For weeks before my trip, it was all I could think of! And when I learned that they went out of business, I was heartbroken. They had the most delicios antipasti and their rum cake was to die for! Al DeFemio was a wonderful chef, and a darned good jazz drummer!
