WHY DOESN'T JACK WANT TO DEBATE? REASON NUMBER 20: HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW HE'S VOTED HIMSELF PAY RAISES TO TAKE HIS PAY FROM $42,500/YR TO $165,500/YR
Tuesday, October 17, 2006
(MONONGAHELA, October 17) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to Jack Murtha's refusal to meet with her to debate the issues, despite newspaper editorials urging him to debate, a League of Women Voters offer to host and sponsor a debate, and local television stations' offer to air the debate -- today released this statement:
"Yesterday we began with our 21-part series, 'Why doesn't Jack want to debate?' wherein I suggest 21 reasons Jack Murtha might be refusing to debate me in public.
"Today I offer reason number 20 Jack Murtha doesn't want to debate me: because HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW HE HAS VOTED TO RAISE HIS OWN PAY FROM $42,500 TO $165,500."
And for those keeping score, we'll offer a running scorecard:
21 REASONS JACK DOESN'T WANT TO DEBATE: HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW:
21. He has voted himself 12 straight pay raises. 20. He has voted to raise his own pay from $42,500/yr to $165,500/yr.

Number five is on its way .Go DIANA IREY.
I came here to bump and chew gum. And I'm all of gum. So I'm bumping this reason to make Murtha history!
These ads bother me. Mary Jo Kilroy is running the same ad against Deborah Price (R) in Ohio. Of course, if the contender wins, they get high salaries, too. Or will they give the money back?

Voters should know their public servants have applauded themselves for a job well done. If voters don't agree, maybe they'll stir themselves and vote.
