Angelina as Dagny - arrgh.
Well, I said the same thing when I heard Madonna was cast for the lead in Evita...but, dang, didn't she pull it off.
So I will hold out hope...it's a good sign that Angelina is a longtime fan of Rand's - at least she may understand the part

By the way, best Objectivist movie ever: The Incredibles.
Kind of amazing from the director of the anti-gun, anti-McCarthy Iron Giant. I didn't see The Incredibles because of his involvement, but maybe I was wrong.

I like the part in The Fountainhead movie where Patricia Neal as Dominique first espies Gary Cooper's Roark working in the marble quarry. Her gaze travels from his rugged face to his brawny chest to the GIANT PNEUMATIC DRILL in hs rawboned hands. Cut to Dominique, flushed and trembling... cut to GIANT PNEUMATIC DRILL in closeup... pan slowly across length of GIANT, GLISTENING, BLACK DRILL... all 18 inches of it... cut to Dominque, eyes rolling like marbles in her head as she contemplates DRILL...

... it's pretty remarkable for any Hollywood type to mention Mere Christianity as his favorite book. I thought the same thing, Sloth.

My best friend from school had a t-shirt made that said "I'm Waiting for Dagny Taggert."
He ended up marrying a girl that he met at TAC, ended up at CU in DC with a PhD in Theology and settling down to have 5 kids.
Life changes...

I would have settled for being Eddie Willers.

Well, except for the part about never getting to have sex with Dagny...

"his son's was "Atlas Shrugged," which runs more than 1,100 pages"
my copy has 1084 pages.
Angelina Jolie would be okay for the vapid wife of Hank but horrible for Dagney.

A movie version of "Atlas Shrugged" has been long in the making. Producer Al Ruddy tried for years, attracting the interest of Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford and Faye Dunaway along the way.
Faye Dunaway would have been a great Dagney, a few years ago.

I agree, but...I think she is still too good looking, as is Angelina Jolie (even WITH that ten cent fart for a brain)
Remember, she is someone who is not regarded as all the beautiful to some.
I visualize someone with short hair and an angular face, almost someone like Jodie Foster.

What a great, great emotional line.
Nearly brought me to tears reading it. So heartbroken was he to lose life.
So well done by Rutger Hauer.

I LOVE that movie...
My favorite line...I was totally shocked to hear it in a Hollywood movie...(and I paraphrase because I don't remember it precisely)
"...Mom and Dad are in REAL danger...or worse...their MARRIAGE!"

GOOD idea. And if Jodie Foster did this roll, it might undo the indoctrination she got at Yale.
